Standalone article about an album track which contains no references and was never a single – should be merged into the article about the parent album. The discussion about merging at the village pump is now archived (here). The vast majority of those who expressed an opinion considered the system based on the current templates and this process (Wikipedia:Proposed mergers) to be inadequate.
This page lists proposed article mergers as a supplement to the merge categories and templates; it is meant for discussing possible mergers and does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s) to the articles before listing them here.
mergers that are so obviously necessary and appropriate that no one is expected to object;
mergers that would benefit from discussion with the other editors at the affected articles about whether and/or how to perform the merge; and
mergers that are controversial or potentially difficult to carry out, and therefore need assistance from uninvolved editors in determining whether to merge the pages.
If the pages that you would like to merge fall into the first group, then it is not necessary to propose a merger at all. You should boldly do the merger now, without formally proposing it. (In the event that someone unexpectedly objects, then the merger can be undone easily, and you can formally propose the merger for discussion at that time.)
If a formal discussion is wanted, then proposing a merger can be done in three steps:
Create a place for discussion. Go to the Talk Page (also known as the discussion page) of the TARGET ARTICLE (the one you want to merge to) and create a section (eg: "Merger proposal") to discuss the merger. If there's already a discussion on the talk page regarding the merger, you can omit this step. Whether the discussion is new or old, make sure the discussion section names all articles involved and links to them. The section name can be anything that includes the word merge (for example ==Merger proposal==).
Put one of the merger tags at the top of the articles you wish to be merged. The templates {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}}, or {{merge}} are the most common ones. Remember to make sure that the Discuss link in each tag points to the section you've created in step 1 (this is to prevent having two separate discussions on different talk pages).
If the proposed merge is controversial or potentially difficult to carry out, follow the directions under #Requests for merge assistance and feedback to add it to the list.
Many bold mergers are performed each day. Of the mergers that are formally proposed, about 95% fall into the second category, of wanting discussion or practical assistance from the editors at the articles that are to be merged. The remaining 5% of formally proposed mergers are on contentious topics or are controversial for one reason or another. Only this small fraction is listed at the bottom of this page as instructed in step #3.
Requests for merge assistance and feedback
If you need outside feedback regarding mergers that are either tricky or of a controversial nature, please do the following:
Tag the article as shown above
Create a discussion as shown above
Notify the talk page of the appropriate Wikiproject to get knowledgeable people to comment on it. (To find out which Wikiproject the page is associated with, check the associated talk page. It should be tagged with a template, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey.)
If there is consensus to merge, but the merge is difficult, contact Wikipedia:WikiProject Merge for assistance.
Cut-and-paste move fixes: If you have merged an article by this method, then you need to request page histories to be merged; list them at requests for history merge. Please DO NOT perform further moves by cut and paste.
NOTE: Do not Post Here if You are Not Willing to do the Merge Yourself. We will provide you assistance in how to complete the merge if you are unsure how to do it. -Project Merge NOTE: Please do not re-list old merge proposals that are already tagged and in the "to Merge" queue (including requests made up to two years ago), as these will be handled as we get to them. -Project Merge
New requests
If you need assistance with proposing a merge, list it below and someone will make sure it's properly listed. Note that this will not get the merge completed, as there is a large merge backlog. Once a merge is listed properly, move it to the "Completed requests" or "Awaiting consensus" sections below as appropriate.
Please list new requests at the bottom of this section. Use the Edit Summary and list at least a link to the article to be redirected. Please legitimize your request by signing each listing or comment by typing four tildes (~~~~):
Merge Trail of Dreams 2010 with/into Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, as it was a supportive campaign/activity by four undocumented activists in support of DACA, and serving to help identify the continued efforts to pass DACA. The campaigns/activities by the activists in the hope said acitivities will lead to permanent residency and eventually citizenship for individuals qualifying for DACA. Merge Masters athletics and all the subarticles listed in the category Category:Masters athletics world_record progressions. Alternatively, merge subarticles with their main activity (i.e. Master athletics shot put merged into Shot put). There are 240 or so separate articles in the category that are orphans devoid of context as they are broken down by activity, gender and age. Even the Olympics don't have such narrow focus. The information is salvageable, otherwise they would all be A1 speedy. Needless to say, I oppose this merger request. I'm not familiar with this page, so I do not know where the full discussion should take place. Merge City and Colour into Dallas Green (musician). On the City and Colour article currently states in the first sentence that the article is about a recording alias belonging to Dallas Green . It also states the only band member in the associated project is Dallas Green himself. The member list after him is separate and designated "other back up". In its current state a merge is entirely appropriate. --Wudumindif (talk) 00:53, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Merge Miramichi (electoral district) into Miramichi—Grand Lake. Miramichi—Grand Lake is a redistributed Canadian federal electoral district that is comprised mostly of the former Miramichi federal electoral district. There is a precedent of keeping redistributed-but-largely-similar electoral districts in the same article as their predecessor district. This precedent has, in fact, been used in constructing the page for the Miramichi electoral district, as the district's previous incarnation as the district of Northumberland-Miramichi is contained in the same article. Further, of the 10 federal districts in New Brunswick, all have been redistributed, but Miramichi—Grand Lake is the only new district to have received a separate article from its predecessor. --Omertop (talk) 19:35, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Strongly disagree with Poeticbent and thank you not to include POV in talk. Subcamps are not historically notable for their names, because they were not given names. See [[1]]. Very simple to observe that subcamps were redirected to the geographical areas where they were located, because the subcamps did not have proper names. Treatment of Malchow concentration camp nonstandard and nonperformant. Stan94301 (talk) 16:09, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Merge Juan Manuel Alvarez to 2005 Glendale train crash. He is only known for causing the accident and most of the information on that article already exists in the train crash article. A discussion should probably be made first.
Once tagged, request should be added here. This section can also be used if an old proposal needs further discussion. We will attempt to get more people to comment on it.
Merge Investigative Project on Terrorism into Steven Emerson. There is no such entity as the Investigative Project on Terrorism, and much of the information included in the current article belongs in an article under the actual organization which is The Investigative Project on Terrorism Foundation founded in April 2006. There is also a separate entity, The Investigative Project, and the Steven Emerson article where some of the information belongs. Everything is being lump summed under an invalid article. Merge MG Cars and MG Motor; There are two articles about the motoring brand MG - MG Cars and MG Motor. This causes confusion about a brand that is not defunct as the article MG Cars states. It is proposed that one article should be created named 'MG' with details about the brand - past and present. If there is too much information for one article, then 'The History Of MG' would be a suitable secondary article. The merger has so far not come up with a natural conclusion. See details here. Merge Kollam Airport into Asramam Maidan; The two articles overlap in that they describe the same open space which once used to be a landing ground in the 1930s (not an airport, as claimed). Merge Swear box into Swear jar, or vice versa. For the life of me, I don't know why these are separate articles since the container type seems trivial. Merge Salawat (now redirected to Peace be upon him (Islam)) and Durood. Reason given: The articles seems to indicate that Salawat is Arabic of Durood. Also, sending Peace, Salutations, Blessings , etc on the Muhammad all usually refer to similar things, with some slight but significant difference in the meaning of the words. The difference comes in usage of different phrases. E.g.- one kind of phrase used after mentioning his name and another kind of phrase used in Salah. Rather a sub-topic should be used to mention the difference (Note: Naat is not used for this merger, which removed previous merge request) Verycuriousboy (talk) 12:22, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal for Zona Histórica de San Juan (San Juan Historic Site) with Old San Juan, Puerto Rico: I propose that Zona Histórica de San Juan be merged into Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. I think that the content in the "Zona Histórica de San Juan" article can easily be explained in the context of the Old San Juan article, and the Old San Juan article is of a reasonable size that the merging of "Zona Histórica de San Juan" will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase be redirected to Glutamate—cysteine ligase. Brecht's poetry into Bertolt Brecht. The article is organized as an essay, the title is not properly formatted, hints of violating policies regarding original research. Not done. This proposal involves converting a list into a full-blown article. There are problems with this in that the list is transcluded into List of newspapers in the United States#Wyoming. Note the comment on the top of that file--a similar comment is on other analogous state lists as well:
!-- Note to future editors: this article is copied by transclusion into the article "List of newspapers in the United States". Only include links here unless you plan to rewrite that article to use part of the list here, such as for listing only major papers on the main page. Include anything relevant to this page only - things that should only show on this page and not be carried back to the main article - by placing it between blocks. Also, make sure there is nothing - no CR - before a if one is not to be included in the upstream article, or occurs after the , or an extra blank line will be sent back to the calling article

The apparently reverted merge and re-opened discussion is duplicated above (in March 2013).
Mattel v. MCA Records should be merged with Barbie Girl - A WP:BOLD merge was undone by User:TJRC, citing "court case is more than song, also defamation; having a separate article allows legal issues to be discussed that would be off-topic here." This is an invalid rationale being that the lawsuit happened as a direct result of the song making fun of Barbie and bearing its name. Had the song been named something else, it would not have happened. Since the lawsuit has been settled, it is very unlikely that any new information will come up in the near future (even if that was the case, a merge can easily be undone). Starting a discussing would be rather pointless because Mattel v. MCA Records is a low class article not watched by many editors and had minimal edits since its creation over three years ago. This is how the merged article looks like and it seems perfectly okay by me. Before it is done again, though, I suggest you speak one-on-one with User:TJRC because he will likely revert it, being the only editor opposing a merge of any kind. The Legendary Ranger (talk) 22:02, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This is probably the wrong noticeboard for your request, as the merge has already happened (even though it was subsequently reversed). Have/Did you start(ed) a discussion along these lines at the article Talk? That should be a first step, then you would have Third Opinion or Comment requests available to you. From the results of that forum, the article can be brought to Mediation, Arbitration, or even AfD if warranted. GenQuest"Talk to Me"00:45, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit conflict] This seems to be a contentious proposal as a near edit-war has broken out over just tagging the articles for discussion. I posted a list of the affected articles at the discussion sight. (It may be better to take this to AfD.) GenQuest"Talk to Me"15:17, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jazzy Jordan is the Executive Vice President of Verity Gospel Music Group. The entire Jazzy Jordan article consists of 1) Jordan's résumé (including career accomplishments and "early life"), 2) two of Jordan's personal ventures ("Jordan Entertainment Group", which never got off the ground, and a one-year Indy 500 car co-ownership), and 3) successful VGMG albums that occurred while Jordan was with the company. This person, in my opinion, is entirely non-notable. A deletion discussion a year ago never gained any traction -- because no one cared enough about the article to bother even starting a talk page. Anna Månsdotter and Yngsjö murder - An IP user recently merged the two articles (and did it pretty well), but this was soon reverted by User:BabbaQ because nothing was discussed first. However, after seeing how the merged article looks like, I think it is a good idea to merge them again. The articles have almost the same information and are not that long in length. In fact, very little is known about Mrs. Mansdotter other than her involvement in Yngsjo's murder. Had it not been for this, no one would know who she is today. Because both articles have blank talk pages and a low number of edits since their creation, starting a discussion would be pointless since few people are monitoring them. This is a case where merging through WP:Bold is an effective solution. The Legendary Ranger (talk) 17:43, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

• I need help moving the Controversy section of the Joan Juliet Buck into either the Asma al-Assad article and/or the Criticism section of Vogue. It overwhelms the profile. Buck seems to have been commissioned for the piece by Vogue, al-Assad's husband is responsible for many atrocities in his own county, and these points that are lost by keeping it in under Joan Juliet Buck.--Aichikawa (talk) 18:17, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dopp kit to Body hygiene kit. I have proposed that these be merged because "Dopp kit" is now merely a term that people use for their body hygiene kits. There's some significant history behind the development of the term, but I think that fits under body hygiene kit, and would help flesh out the stub. Samois98 20:23, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Essentially, what we are trying to do here is create a new master page, or super-categorisation, for all two cylinder engines leading to sub- or child pages for individual configurations.
The intention here is to resolve a problem that has arisen relating to the three main groups of 'non-V' or 'non-flat' twins, i.e. transverse or parallel twins, inline or longitudinal twins, and tandem twins. At present three configurations are being shoehorned into a single article called "Straight-two engine", which arguably is a far more obscure and minor terminology for some engine configurations and not used widely by manufacturers. The previously unreferenced topic being started by a non-native English speaker, sometime ago and the preponderance of references suggesting this does not meet Wikipedia naming conventions, as per WP:NAME; Recognizability, Naturalness, Precision, Conciseness, Consistency, English language use etc.
Please note that Bridge Boy has been blocked indefinitely for disruptive editing, etc. It is generally held by involved editors that this merger proposal was an element of his disruptiveness (is that a word?). I suggest that these merger talks be closed with the decision not to merge. Thank you. Ebikeguy (talk) 22:55, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Student strike to Student protest. I have proposed that the article on "student strikes" be merged to the article on student protests because the former is nothing more than a tactic of the latter. A "student strike" is a politically charged term for what essentially is a student boycott of class, which is nothing more than a kind of student protest. I highly doubt that enough reliable information can be found to maintain it as a separate article. The discussion is ongoing at Talk:Student protest. I have requested a Third opinion, which has been addressed and is in agreement with my point. What, I would like, however, is more input, as there is still one editor who seems adamant that it be kept as a separate article. --MTLskyline (talk) 15:10, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think humectant and dessicant are the same thing? The humectant article as it currently is seems to be describing dessicants. A humectant might have something to do with cosmetics that is a separate meaning to dessicant, but I'm not sure, can anyone help clarify? Zynwyx (talk) 10:28, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Stairwell A has absolutely nothing significant to it other than it helping saved 18 lives on the September 11 attacks, so it makes sense to redirect it to the main 9/11 article and put its contents there, which can easily be done since the staircase article is extremely short and not likely to be expanded. Hello, I would like to merge Mom (Futurama) with List of recurring Futurama characters; however, the page is visited infrequently and currently there is no consensus (1 for and 1 against); furthermore no-one has not mentioned or commented on the Wikipedia guidelines which the said page does not follow (although it is stated). Thank you, Androids101 (talk) 07:55, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please create the destination article first. I noticed there was agreement that Musicians of the Titanic should exist. Once you've created that, copy that user page discussion into the article talk page where such discussions belong. Let me know when this is done, and I can notify WP Ships. I propose merging TOS/360 with DOS/360. They were basically the same operating system. Most of the manuals referenced both DOS and TOS. TOS was really just a tape-only variant. The TOS/360 article is pretty minimal. Peter Flass (talk) 00:52, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've already left noticves with the appropriate WikiProjects, but The page List of The Walking Dead (TV Series) characters is practically a duplicate of List of The Walking Dead (TV series) characters. The only difference in the title, is the capitalization of the word "series", and per Wikipedia policy it should NOT be capitalized. Since both lists are large and may have had different information added to them, they should be merged instead of doing a simple redirect, so that no original information is missed. Dear Wikipedia, hello, I would please like to request a merger of the article Noon family into the article Noon clan to avoid considerable duplication and overlapping and have already added my request and reasons on the talk pages of both articles. I would be grateful for your help in this thank you. 39.54.144.43 (talk) 13:52, 25 March 2012 (UTC)Prof Asad U Khwaja[reply]
