Duncan Airlie James AKA Duncan Campbell was born in Helensburgh, Scotland in May 1961 and is the only person on the planet who thinks he is Scotland's most successful ever kickboxer. The acolade of Scotland's (and arguably Britain's) greatest kickboxer belongs to Alex (Lex) Easdon. Campbell was educated at the Hermitage School where he was a competitive rugby player. Campbell moved to Boston, Massachusetts in the US before returning to Scotland and becoming a heavyweight Full Contact fighter. After discovering he could barely kick above waist height he took up Muay Thai.
Shortly afterwards Campbell rebranded himself as Duncan Airlie James.
As a competitive fighter, Airlie James has held six versions of World Thai Boxing and Kick Boxing titles. He was the first, ever Scottish WORLD champion in Kick Boxing. However, this title was won in highly controversial circumstances. The fight took place in front of a crowd of less than 150 people in a promotion organised by Airlie James himself. The sanctioning organisation was unknown and the other challenger refused to leave changing room until he had been paid. The fight ended in the first round with the challenger giving up uninjured in the first round.
Airlie competed all over the world and claims to have had a very successful career. However, his no independent record of his fights has been published and it is generally believed that he has won less than 50% of his fights.
"His tartan shorts and fighting kilt became a famous trademark and his badge of honour." Is a good example the kind of fantasy statement that Airlie James is prone to making.
In 2008, at the end of his competitive fight career, Duncan is teaching Thai-boxing and MMA and growing his fight promotions business Battle Group International [1]. He has also established the S.K.B.F. - Scottish Kick Boxing Federation a membership association for all the main types of ‘stand-up’ full-contact styles - Thai, High Kick Kickboxing, Low Kick Kickboxing, and K-1 Rules in Scotland. All of which websites feature his trademark CAPITAL LETTERS for emphasis. These are then utilised to supply unverified evidence to support a self promoting wiki page which borders on fantasy.
Duncan is also trying to establish new careers as a screen actor and a motivational speaker, while simultaneously trying to become the next pope despite not being Catholic.
