Eduardo "Edu" Docampo Aldana (born 26 May 1974) is a Spanish football manager, who is currently the assistant manager of Russian side PFC Sochi.
Career
Born in Bilbao, Docampo began his coaching career at Athletic Bilbao in 2006 and during his six years with the club, he'd go onto manage various youth sides, before he moved to Russia on 12 June 2012, to become head of the youth academy at FC Rubin Kazan.[1]
During his five-year stay in Russia, Docampo would go onto the U-17's side at Kazan, along with Vicente Gómez and Pinedo.[2] He would also hold the position of assistant manager at the national team of Belarus and he would work under Aleksandr Khatskevich as well as Igor Kriushenko, during his two-year stay.
During the 2017–18 campaign, Docampo switched countries again as he would become assistant manager at Qatari side Al Ahli SC, firstly under fellow Spaniard Joaquín Caparrós,[3] then under his successor, Jorge Peris.[4]
The following year, Docampo would move to Ukraine, where he would be assistant to Khatskevich once again for the 2018–19 season.
In the summer of 2019, Docampo returned to Russia and Rubin Kazan, as he was named assistant manager to Roman Sharonov; however on 16 December, he left the club along with Sharonov.[5]
On 14 October 2020, Docampo remained in Russia's top flight as he was named assistant manager to Rashid Rakhimov at Ufa.[6] The following April, he left Ufa after the resignation of Rakhimov.[7]
On 3 June 2021, Docampo returned to Spain after nine-years away, to become a manager outright, as he was named at the helm of Primera Federación side CD Calahorra on a contract for the 2021–22 campaign.[8] On 1 June 2022, almost a year since his appointment, Docampo left Calahorra after turning down a new contract for the 2022–23 season.[9]
On 16 June 2022, Docampo took over Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa also in the third division,[10] but was dismissed on 26 April of the following year.[11]
On 14 January 2024, Docampo returned to Russia as he joined Robert Moreno at Russian Premier League side Sochi as Moreno's assistant.[12]
