Egis Group is a major international group in the construction engineering and mobility services sectors. Egis creates and operates intelligent infrastructure and buildings capable of responding to the climate emergency and addressing the major challenges of our time by helping to achieve more balanced, sustainable and resilient territorial development.
A 75%-owned subsidiary of Caisse des Dépôts, with the remaining 25% held by partner executives and employees, Egis places its multiple fields of expertise at the disposal of the community and makes cutting-edge innovation accessible to all projects throughout their lifecycle: consulting, engineering, operation.
Through its wide-ranging fields of activity, Egis is a central player in the collective organisation of society and the living environment of its inhabitants all over the world.
Headquartered in France, Egis also has offices worldwide in the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia.
History
Egis was formed on 1 January 2011 as a result of the merger of the French companies “Caisse des Dépôts” and “Iosis Partenaires”, with the new shareholding structure split on a 75:25 basis.
The Egis Group, through Egis Projects Canada, operates the Golden Ears Bridge in British Columbia: an All Electronic Toll bridge in Metro Vancouver.[citation needed] In 2012, the Egis Group was selected, as part of a consortium with CS America named Secure Interagency Flow, to build and run a pilot interoperability hub for ATI: the Alliance for Toll Interoperability.[a]
Criticism
Involvement in Israeli settlements
On 12 February 2020, the United Nations published a database of companies doing business related in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as in the occupied Golan Heights.[1] The Egis Group was listed on the database on account of the activities of its subsidy Egis Rail Israel in Israeli settlements in these occupied territories,[2] which are considered illegal under international law.[3]
Notes
- ^ The consortium Secure Interagency Flow were one of four companies selected for the pilot phase of the project: the aim of which is to provide tolling ineteroperability between state-wide toll agencies. Further details and updates can be found on the ATI website Archived 2012-03-30 at the Wayback Machine
