Biography
He was born on September 22, 1843, as the fifth son (some sources suggest sixth son) of Matsudaira Yorisato, the 9th lord of the Saijo Domain. His childhood name was Yunosuke. Due to the premature deaths of his four older brothers and Yorimasa's adopted son Yorinaga, he became the heir apparent.
On November 21, 1862, he succeeded to the family headship due to his father's retirement. During the Boshin War in 1868, he sided with the imperial forces despite being from a loyal domain. In June 1869, he became the governor of the domain through the abolition of the feudal system, and after the abolition of domains in 1871, he was dismissed from his position and moved to Tokyo. In 1884, he was granted the title of viscount.
He died on December 3, 1905, at the age of 63 (62 by Western reckoning).
