Film
- The character was adapted for the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger, where she is portrayed by Hayley Atwell.[3] In the movie Peggy is a British Officer serving in the US Army and is Captain America's love interest. Regarding her preparation for the role, she said, "I'm training at the moment six days a week to make her a bit more military and make it convincing that I could kick butt."[4] Atwell stated, "I likened her character to that famous Ginger Rogers quote. She can do everything Captain America can do, but backwards and in high heels. She's an English soldier through and through, although she always looks fabulous. She might stand there with a machine-gun shooting Nazis, but she's obviously gone to the loo beforehand and applied a bit of lipstick. She doesn't need to be rescued. That's exciting to me – her strength",[5][6] a characterization that was praised by Christy Lemire of the Associated Press.[7] Roger Ebert felt that she resembled "a classic military pin-up of the period" with her depicted "full red lips" of the film.[8]
- Atwell reprised her role as Carter in the Marvel One Shot film Agent Carter, which was packaged with the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray disc . The film takes place one year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, in features Carter as a member of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, searching for the mysterious Zodiac.[9] The film also features her dealing with the sexism of the period.[10]
- She will reprises the role again in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.[9][11]
Television
- It was reported in September 2013 that a spinoff TV series featuring Carter was in the early development stages at ABC.[12][13][14] Atwell indicated that she was willing to star in such a series.[15][16][17]
Video game
Carter appears in the First Avenger tie-in video game, Captain America: Super Soldier, in which Atwell voices the character.
