Timur Denisovich Arbuzov (Russian: Тимур Денисович Арбузов, born 14 April 2004) is a Russian judoka and sambo competitor. 2024 World Championships silver medalist[3] and 2022 Russian national runner-up.[4]
Background
Arbuzov was born and raised in Kropotkin township based in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. He started judo and sambo at the age of four under his father Denis Arbuzov.[5]
Career
Cadet level
Timur began competing as a sambo competitor in 2018, where he came in first place at the Russian and World championships in Serbia.[5][6] During the 2019 part of the season, Arbuzov won bronze medal from the judo national championships[7] and the gold medal at the European cup in Coimbra, Portugal.[8] In 2021, he came first at the European Championships in Riga, Latvia[9] and won the European cup in Porec, Croatia.[10]
Junior level
In 2021, he won the Russian junior championships at 73 kilos.[11] In 2023, he took the gold medal at the U23 Russian championships and junior world bronze.[12][13]
Senior level
He earned his first senior silver medal at the 2022 Russian nationals held in Yekaterinburg.[4] In 2024, he placed first at the Grand Slam Tbilisi in the men's 81 kilos.[14] At the 2024 World Championships he came second in the men's 81 kg.[3]

Personal life
He lives and trains in Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai with his younger brothers Eduard, Artiom and Matvey.[5][1] Also, he trains in the Rodina judo and sambo club in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast.[2]
