:Right, and I agree that you are most likely correct, but that's not how the WP:BLP policy works. Unless there's evidence that they are deceased, we cannot just assume that they are, unless they're over a certain age. Take Sam Dana for example. It was only until about a year before his death that people realized that he was actually still alive! As you can see here, there's plenty of (as far as I'm concerned, non-notable, but protected by WP:BIO anyhow) Olympic athletes that are so obscure that their dates of birth and death are not likely to be known. I've been riding on the assumption that, so long as they are younger than Signe Johansson-Engdahl, who was declared the oldest living former Olympian, that they should at least belong in "Possibly living". I do agree that, yeah, he's probably deceased, but I made that mistake with Betty Tancock, and her relatives emailed the Wikipedia Foundation to complain that she was listed as deceased! So, per WP:BLP, he should be moved back to "Possibly living". Cheers, CP 15:03, 8 August 2008 (UTC) |

Category:Novels by Barry Hughart
I'm a BIG Hughart fan (have multiple first editions including one signed and inscribed - to someone else) but was bemused at your creation of this new category. Given that he only wrote three books ever, this may be one of the coolest micro-categories extant! I'm kind of bummed that several Hughart external links are now dead (e.g., to the original draft of Bridge of Birds). Anyway, keep contributing - the world needs to know how wonderful these works are, and accurately, neutrally, and thoroughly chronicling them here in wikipedia is a good thing to do. -- Quartermaster (talk) 23:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I was wondering why you changed this individual from Category:Possibly living people to Category:Year of death missing? Cheers, CP 14:55, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
