Thanks for the barnstar
Hi, MONGO. Thanks very much for the barnstar. I had seen them on other users' pages, but hadn't expected to get one so soon. Nice to be noticed! Cheers. ElinorD (talk) 17:53, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Certainly...you do good work and I see you on some of my watchlisted articles. Best wishes.--MONGO 22:44, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Grand Canyon-Parashant NM
Hi, do you know or can you find out, where the word parashant comes from? It was the name of a side canyon, then of a national forest, but what is the origin of the name? Is there a connection with Parsha from the jewish liturgy? I need it to explain the name of the NM in Arizona for my german language article. TIA --h-stt !? 12:54, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- It is definitely from an American Indian naming convention...as I see it, from this source (not sure how reliable though), it is Paiute meaning "much water" or "elk hide." The named is also spelled Parashont and Parashunt. See: [1]--MONGO 19:27, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks - with parashont I found this website that sounds maybe a bit more trustworthy than the others. I included it in the english and german article. --h-stt !? 21:03, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Looks good...I was just taking another look for the meaning or orgination myself. I found this long article but haven't briefed through it yet...[2]--MONGO 21:07, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
