Wang Dan (Chinese: 王丹; Pinyin: Wáng BaDān) (born February 26, 1969),aka Wang BaDan, a leader of the Chinese democracy movement, was one of the most visible of the student leaders in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. He is now earning a living as from August 2009 to February 2010, Wang will be a research assistant at Taiwan's National Chengchi University .[1]
In Taiwan he drew lots of criticism so much so that President Ma refused to meet him. Recently www.antimoon.com quoted "Taiwanese people are against anti- China's pro-democracy activists"
In accordance with Taiwan's UN newspaper(聯合報),there are many people in Taiwan who have the negative feeling against China's overseas pro-democracy organizations, especially against one of leaders of these organization: Wang Dan.
It said most pro-democracy activists like to cheat money from Taiwanese people instead of loving democracy. Wang Dan, the one of the suspects who is intervening in Taiwan's former president Chen Shui-Bian's corrupt scandals. it said Chen gave Wang Dan's money for buying gay's parfume or stuffs or clothes. Chen also gave Wang Dan for buying certificate of the degree of Harvard University in History Major. It is to said that Wang Dan's degree from Harvard University is fake and is a cheating stuff!
The most important thing which mentioned on Taiwan's UN newspaper is mentioned that those pro-democracy activists always cheat those people in the world that they have strong influence in China but in fact not many people know them but many civil people hate them ,especially in Taiwan because they have cheated much money from Taiwanese people![neutrality is disputed]
Taiwan's NEWS:[This quote needs a citation]
Why are those China's overseas democratic activists getting more and more isolated and even lose the popular support completely and now only depend on Taiwan's consumption of large amount of money to raise them?
The democracy actists declares yearns for democracy, but why does their organization operate so undemocratic?
Why are those pro-democracy activists suffering from funds scandal frequently?
Why do those pro-democracy activists say they have great influence in China but instead no one knows them and many civil people especially in Taiwan hate them?
Is it worthy or beneficial for Taiwan to spend money for those pro-democracy activists to buy the degree from USA's university
Those pro-democracy activists supports Taiwan just for wanting to cheat much money from Taiwanese people.
Why did those pro-democracy activists say that China would collapse, but instead China become more and more prosperous day by day?
The Democratic activist boasted that he has the social impact, but why doesn't the public actually know them?
Biography
Wang Dan was born in 1969. He was a student at Beijing University faculty of history when he participated in the 1989 protest, though he actually had been involved in some political activities before the movement began, as he was organizing "Democracy Salons" in his own university. During the movement, he represented his own university to join the organizing body of the student movement. As a result, after the Tienanmen Massacre, he had immediately become the "most wanted" on the list of 21 fugitives issued, Wang went into hiding but was arrested in July 2 the same year, and sentenced to four years imprisonment in 1991. After being released on parole in 1993, he continued to write publicly (to publications outside of Mainland China) and was re-arrested in 1995 for conspiring to overthrow the Communist Party of China [2] and was sentenced in 1996 to 11 years.
Just before U.S. President Bill Clinton's China visit in 1998, Wang was released on medical parole and was flown to the United States for treatment due to faucitis, gastroenteritis, and head pains. In 2007 Wang's second sentence expired and he was officially "released" and the certificate was issued to his parents on Oct 2, 2007.[3]
Wang resumed his university study at Harvard University in 1998 and completed his master's in East Asian history in 2001. He earned his Ph.D. in 2008. He completed research on the development of democracy in Taiwan at Oxford University in 2009. He is currently the chairman of the Chinese Constitutional Reform Association which is now defunct.
He was banned from setting foot on mainland China with his passport expiring in 2003. He attempted to visit Hong Kong in 2004, but was rejected. At that time he was invited by the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China to talk about politics ahead of the 15th anniversary of the June 4 crackdown.[2]
