== Re: Afghanistan provinces ==
I got into a little tiff with Tobias Conradi over finally renaming the provinces of Afghanistan back to the "X province" format, from the "X Province" format he put them in some time ago. I have a question for you, since you seem to know something of Afghanistan: Can you state that "X province" is more accurate than "X Province?" (I noticed, on User_talk:Jeltz, that every one of the google results you gave were to ''news'' sites, which may not know the standard. Or maybe they do! I don't know.) And, secondly, is there any reason not to use simply "X"? That is, if we put the articles at Paktia, Panjshir, Kandahar_(province), etc? I know you're on vacation, so I wait for your reply. Thanks! :) --Golbez 15:51, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
== Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard ==
I have created a new project page at Wikipedia:Bureaucrats'_noticeboard, and Secretondon
suggested that I tell my fellow bureaucrats about it. It's designed as a forum where users with bureaucrat rights can discuss difficult situations, either beforehand (for advice about what to do) or after taking action (for review and feedback). It's similar to another page I created, which is starting to catch on (e.g., Jimbo used it this August): Wikipedia:account_suspensions, which is not for 3RR or simple vandalism but for '''close calls''' and '''disputed blocks'''.
Please take a look at these new project pages and give some feedback. Good idea? Bad? Needs improvement? --Uncle Ed 12:23, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

Kingturtle, you asked me to redothat on IRC and later you revert me for doing so. You basicaly made me waiste several hours. Can you PLEASE tell me what the heck is going on? Please also notify me on my talk page. --Cool Cat Talk 20:52, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
Also you removed "Terrebonne" stats from Lousiana. entry. --Cool Cat Talk 21:02, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
I am not pissed ...much... but I thought it look better, I just want to improve meself. --Cool Cat Talk 21:02, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
:coolcat, my specific request in IRC was for someone to change the "Totals" row from 4 columns to 5 columns. this was something i wasn't able to figure out within the confines of the chart that existed. i did not ask for a total overhaul of the chart.
:the States and their totals should appear in the first columns, and then subsets should appear in further columns. i am sorry for the amount of time you spent redoing the chart. can i reimburse you by doing a wikipedia task for you? :)
:Kingturtle 21:09, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
:P.S. I will add Terrebonne stats right now. thanks for catching that ommission.
::Not just that but the "missing" are missing as well. See katrina toll talk page for a few issues I have with current template. --Cool Cat Talk 21:23, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
::I refuse to let those hours to waiste ;). Lets see what we can coe up with. Ok? --Cool Cat Talk 21:43, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
:I was the one who added the "Missing" column. I decided to remove the "Missing" column because I felt the States and the States Totals columns should be separated from one to two - and if I didn't remove the "Missing" column, the chart would get too wide.
:I am happy to do a project for you. i owe you that time! Kingturtle 21:49, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
==Image deletion rampage==
Just a heads-up, but it seems that Jimbo Wales has decided to tighten up image tagging requirements, and has ordered immediate expunging of unsourced images. Some admins have thrown themselves into this hastily (User:Zscout370 for example), who aren't bothering to notify the uploaders or even remove the links. I bring this to your attention because Image:Benzodiazepine.jpg -- still in Benzodiazepine -- was deleted a few days ago. Better check your images for proper tags. --Calton | Talk 08:01, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
== Fair use outside of article space ==
Hi. I see that your user page includes one or more "fair use" images (e.g. Image:Marine-raiders.jpg). You may not be aware that the fair use exception requires a separate justification for each use of an image, and it difficult to make a fair use argument outside of the main article namespace. Please see Wikipedia:Fair_use#Images for details. Cheers, Bovlb 07:49, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
:I am confused. Are you saying that I can't show that picture on my userpage because I can't justify it's use there? Kingturtle 18:24, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
::I'm afraid that's correct. Wikipedia:Fair_use#Images gives the details, but essentially fair use is out for user pages. Bovlb 15:38, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
:::Are there any other images on my user page that need to be removed? Kingturtle 18:21, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
::::I didn't look, and I'm supposed to be on WikiVacation this week. Sorry. I'm thinking of scripting the detection of fair use images outside article space. Bovlb 22:13, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
:::Please do not script such an activity. That will rub people the wrong way. The tactful and kind way is to tell individuals of their image violations, and have them remove said images. Kingturtle 23:06, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
::::Just to clarify, I was thinking of writing a script that would produce a list (e.g. sorted by page) for more convenient human action. Such a list would have answered your question. I am not proposing to script any removal of images or image links. I have been experimenting recently with finding violations of this type manually and then contacting users, with mixed results. By the way, I think (IANAL) that a ''link'' to an image ([:Image:…] ), as opposed to an inline image, would not violate copyright. Have a look at what I've done with my (modest)upload gallery. (Hmm. I wonder if we could make the gallery extension de-inline "fair use" images.) Bovlb 14:10, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
==ITN==
Someone was just able to vandalise the main page beacuse you included an image on the ITN template that was not protected. If you don't know a commons admin you must upload the image to wikiepdia, tag in with {{tl|c-uploaded}}, and protect it before you can add it to the main page.--nixie 00:35, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
==Hello kingturtle==
It seems to me that you are black, or know about black people, so I thought I' ask you:I do not fully understand the term, nigger. If a person is born white, but eventually goes black maybe from a tan, would he/she be allowed to say it? What if he was muslim? Note: I am not being racist, I really want to know.
==Years in baseball==
Can you have a look at Category:Baseball, and try and figure out why 9 (and ''only'' 9) of the "year in baseball" articles are showing up there? There's no real reason for them to be in the main category as well as the sub-cats. I can't for the life of me figure out what's causing it. 1966_in_baseball shows up there, for example, but 1996_in_baseball doesn't, and I can't find any difference in the formatting of the pages. == Sylvia Wright and Mondegreens ==
Hi. Back in May, someone I "cyber-know" added some material to Mondegreen, which you reverted a week later. She mentioned it recently, and I'm curious about what was wrong with it. Also, I think it's too bad to discourage an occasional Wikipedian like her, since she's very scrupulous about getting her facts straight and substantiating them. Anyway, I added the material back with some edits of my own and put something on the Talk page, so you can answer here or there or on my talk page. Thanks. —JerryFriedman 21:41, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
:Honestly, I don't remember why I made that revert. Her edits look clean. Whatever the reason is lost on me now. Thank you for putting her edits back in. Kingturtle 02:40, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
::You're welcome and thanks! —JerryFriedman 21:16, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi Kingturtle. Apologies for reverting your edit using the rollback button instead of leaving a comment directing you to the talk page. Since you have supported me during my RfA, I wonder if you could review and comment on the RfA for Halibutt, the first person I have nominated myself. I would like to express my thanks to all the people who took part in my (failed) RfA voting. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! I was also surprised by the amount of people who stated clearly that they do care, be it by voting in for or against my candidacy. That's what Wiki community is about and I'm really pleased to see that it works.
As my RfA voting failed with 71% support, I don't plan to reapply for adminship any more. However, I hope I might still be of some help to the community. Cheers! Halibutt 05:10, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
==Important AfD==
I am contacting editors applies NPOV and NOR standards rigidly for their input on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_modern_day_dictators, where a consensus has yet to be established. I think this AfD is particularly important because it has been bringing to light some fundamental differences in interpretations of content policies among editors. If you have time, please take a look at the page and add your input. Best regards. 172 07:56, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
== One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter ==
Did Reagan really say that? When and where? That might be good for Wikiquote if there are good cites. --Mr. Billion 00:06, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
*The quote is attributed to Reagan. But I don't know where or when he said it. Moreover, at one point, in one of his Saturday addresses, Reagan challenges the quip as being inaccurate. Kingturtle 00:39, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
==Gulf War Syndrome's Principi quote in light of uranium as a neurotoxin==
Dear Kingturtle, why did you do this? The 2005 Nebraska research which you reverted away is rock-solid, and none of the other substances which I had removed mention of are teratogenic. I can get more sources about the neurotoxicity of uranium if you like; please let me know. 71.141.165.166 19:19, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
:I did not revert away. I re-added "United States Veterans Affairs Secretary Anthony_Principi's panel found that more recent studies suggest the veterans' illnesses are neurological and apparently are linked to exposure to Neurotoxins such as the nerve gas Sarin, the anti-nerve gas drug Pyridostigmine_bromide, and Pesticides that affect the nervous system. Research studies conducted since the war have consistently indicated that psychiatric illness, combat experience or other deployment-related stressors do not explain Gulf War veterans illnesses in the large majority of ill veterans," the review committee said."
:Please explain to be better what needs to be done and I will help. Kingturtle 21:31, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
::Okay, well, I think the link to the 2005 Nebraska research should be added back, because as far as I know it was the first peer-reviewed medical publication proving that uranium is a neurotoxin. That means that uranium inhalation exposure can explain the observed birth defects, immune system problems, AND the behavioral problems, whereas from 2002-2004 it could only explain the first two. Does that make sense? 71.141.121.198 21:55, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
