Connormah, can you add three Canadian Olympic swimmers to your check list? They're listed as "possibly living," and would be 90+ years old if still alive --
John Watts (Grenadian politician)
Hi. You just reverted my edit changing aged to age. After looking at some other blps it appears you are right. (Still sounds weird though). Thanks for teaching me something new. Have a great day. BlueworldSpeccie (talk) 18:13, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Chick Doak.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Chick Doak.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SCMatt33 (talk) 04:08, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
I see you've changed the copyright tag on the image to "PD-US-no notice," but it appears that page 5 of the digitized yearbook you linked as the source does claim copyright. Is this not enough to be a legit copyright? I'm not trying to badger you about the photo, but wanted to know because if most yearbooks from 1923-1977 would fall under public domain because of this, it could be a huge boon to adding media to university and college sports pages.SCMatt33 (talk) 15:07, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- @SCMatt33: - no, you're right; I missed that. I deleted it. Thanks. Connormah (talk) 17:08, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Lieutenant Governors
I don't think there is any agreement that holders of this office are intrinsically notable. I am am wrong, please enlighten me. If I am right, you really needto make sure the articles you;ve been writing clearly meet the GNG. I don't want to nominate them for deletion if they can be improved. DGG ( talk ) 05:22, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- @DGG: - Lt Govs should meet WP:POLITICIAN as they are often long serving members of state legislatures. I'll need to look at some newspaper sources when I get the time. Connormah (talk) 05:29, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
