John W. Stanton is the chairman of the board of Clearwire Corporation.[1][2][3] He is a director on the boards of Columbia Sportswear and General Communication Inc.[4]
Stanton was the founder and former CEO of Western Wireless Corporation, former chairman and CEO of VoiceStream Wireless, and former chairman of the CTIA.[5][6] Stanton is listed as #840 in the Forbes 2007 "Richest People" study. His net worth has been estimated at US$1.1 billion.[6] He is a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, where he earned his undergraduate degree.[6][7]
Stanton joined Microsoft's board of directors in July 2014.[8][9][10]
Family
He resides in Bellevue, Washington[7] with his wife, Theresa Gillespie and their two sons.[citation needed]
