Project banner
Note: This template has recently undergone major revisions. If you spot anything which you think may need correcting, please feel free to mention it on the talk page.
The {{WikiProject France}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:
{{WikiProject France |small= |class= |importance= |attention= |needs-photo= |needs-infobox= |peer-review= |old-peer-review= <!-- Task forces and projects --> |paris= |communes= |Saint Pierre and Miquelon= }}
General parameters
- attention – set
|attention=yes
if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention.- This parameter populates Category:France articles needing attention.
- class – see the project's quality scale for details.
- importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details.
- listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Antoine Lavoisier, use
|listas=Lavoisier, Antoine
so that the talk page will show up in the L's and not the A's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category.
It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own|listas=
set, since it not only affects categories used by the banner in which it is set, but it also affects the sortkey of all other banners and templates. - needs-infobox – set
|needs-infobox=yes
if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.- This parameter populates Category:France articles without infoboxes.
- needs-photo – set
|needs-photo=yes
if the page needs a photograph.- This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in France.
- peer-review – set
|peer-review=yes
if the article is currently undergoing a peer review, or to request that the peer review process for this page should be begun.- This parameter populates Category:Requests for France peer review.
- old-peer-review – set
|old-peer-review=yes
if the article has had a peer review which is now archived.- This parameter populates Category:Old request for France peer review.
- small – set
|small=yes
to display a small version of the template aligned along the right side of the page (as opposed to at the top). This parameter does not work as expected if the banner template is enclosed in{{WikiProjectBannerShell}}
or{{WikiProjectBanners}}
. - category – set
|category=no
if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
Task forces
- Commune – set
|Commune=yes
if the article is supported by WikiProject French communes.- This parameter populates Category:WikiProject French communes articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:French communes articles by quality.
- Commune-importance (only used if
|Commune=yes
is set; uses the same values as|importance=
) – Importance rating within WikiProject French communes- This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:French communes articles by importance.
- Paris – set
|Paris=yes
if the article is supported by the Paris task force.- This parameter populates Category:Paris task force articles.
- Saint Pierre and Miquelon – set
|Saint Pierre and Miquelon=yes
if the article is supported by the Saint Pierre and Miquelon work group.- This parameter populates Category:Saint Pierre and Miquelon articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Saint Pierre and Miquelon articles by quality.
- Saint Pierre and Miquelon-importance (only used if
|Saint Pierre and Miquelon=yes
is set; uses the same values as|importance=
) – Importance rating within the Saint Pierre and Miquelon work group- This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Saint Pierre and Miquelon articles by importance.
Aliases
- The parameter
|commune=
is recognised as an alias for|Commune=
. If both|Commune=
and|commune=
are present,|commune=
is ignored. - The parameter
|commune-importance=
is recognised as an alias for|Commune-importance=
. If both|Commune-importance=
and|commune-importance=
are present,|commune-importance=
is ignored. - The parameter
|paris=
is recognised as an alias for|Paris=
. If both|Paris=
and|paris=
are present,|paris=
is ignored. - Setting
|tf=Paris
is an obsolete way of setting|Paris=yes
To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
