I have three User names;
- Barbara (WVS) is the account that I use as a WP Visiting Scholar, and Wikipedian in Residence with the University of Pittsburgh The WikiEd Foundation tracks my progress on their WikiEd dashboard here. I don't attend the University of Pittsburgh, I am not on staff and I am not paid for my work as a Visiting Scholar.
- Bfpage is the account and user name that I use for my personal use and for the majority of my editing.
Update
- Pitz, Marylynne, A Wikipedia Woman of Letters. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. December 11, 2016. Same story mentioned in the the weekly Wikipedia "Signpost" article
Why become a Visiting Scholar?
It helps the encyclopedia by giving an editor access to a multitude of University resources that the 'scholar' can use to write content - especially medical content which is typically inaccessible due to the high costs of journal subscriptions. It helps the University participate in building the free and largest repository of human knowledge. My position as a Wikipedia Visiting Scholar has been extended through the rest of 2016.
