Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. (For retitling files, categories and other items, see When not to use this page.) Please read our article titling policy and our guideline regarding primary topics before moving a page or requesting a page move.
Any autoconfirmed user can use the Move function to perform most moves (see Help:How to move a page). If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move, such as when a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or if the page to be moved is protected from moves. In these circumstances, administrator help is required to move a page, see below: § Requesting technical moves.
- A title may be subject to dispute, and discussion may be necessary in order to reach consensus, see below: § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. It is not always necessary to use the requested move process in these circumstances: one option is to start an informal discussion at the article's talk page instead.
- Unregistered users and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users do not have the capability to move pages. They must request moves using this process.
Most move requests are processed by a group of regular contributors who are familiar with Wikipedia naming conventions, non-binding precedents, and page moving procedures. Requests are generally processed after seven days, although backlogs often develop. If there is a clear consensus after this time, or if the requested move is uncontroversial or technical, the request will be closed and acted upon. If not, the closer may choose to re-list the request to allow more time for consensus to develop, or close it as "no consensus". For the processes involved in closing requests, performing moves, and cleaning up after moves, see Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions. For a list of all processed moves, see Special:Log/move.
The Move review process can be used to contest a move. It is designed to evaluate a contested close of a move discussion to determine if the close was reasonable, or whether it was inconsistent with the spirit and intent of Wikipedia common practice, policies, or guidelines.

When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space – (new/unconfirmed users only) add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. - Merging two articles – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Anyone can be bold and move a page without discussing it first and gaining an explicit consensus on the talk page. If you consider such a move to be controversial, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Requesting technical moves
The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. If any of the following apply to a desired move, treat it as potentially controversial:
- There is an existing article (not just a redirect) at the target title;
- There has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
- Someone could reasonably disagree with the move.
If a desired move is uncontroversial and technical in nature (e.g. spelling), please feel free to move the page yourself. If the page has recently been moved without discussion, you may revert the move and initiate a discussion on its talk page. In either case, if you are unable to complete the move, request it below.
- To list a technical request, go to the bottom of this section that you are reading right now; edit the subsection Uncontroversial technical requests; insert the following code at the top:
-
{{subst:RMassist|<!--old page name, without brackets-->|<!--requested name, without brackets-->|reason= <!--reason for move-->}}
- This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move it to the Contested technical requests section. Add a note saying "Moved by..." and add your signature with ~~~~.
- If your technical request is contested by another editor, please remove it from the contested technical requests section and follow the instructions at Requesting potentially controversial moves.
- Alternatively, if the only obstacle to an uncontroversial move is another page in the way, you can ask for the deletion of the other page. This may apply, for example, if the other page is currently a redirect to the article to be moved, a redirect with no incoming links, or an unnecessary disambiguation page with a minor edit history. To request the other page be deleted, add the following code to the top of the page that is in the way:
-
{{db-move|<!--page to be moved here-->|<!--reason for move-->}}
- This will list the undesired page for deletion under criterion for speedy deletion G6. If the page is a redirect, place the code above the redirection. For a list of articles being considered for uncontroversial speedy deletion, see Category:Candidates for uncontroversial speedy deletion.

Contested technical requests
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves
Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. In particular, use this process before moving any existing page with incoming links to create a disambiguation page at that title. For technical move requests (e.g. spelling and capitalization fixes), see Requesting technical moves.
Do not put more than one open move request on the same article talk page, because this is not supported by the bot that handles updates to this page. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.
Requesting a single page move
(To propose moving more than one page—for example, moving a disambiguation page in order to move another page to that title—see "Requesting multiple page moves" below.)
To request a single page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you want moved, using this format:
{{subst:Requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please present Google Books or Google News Archive results before providing other web results. Do not sign this.}}
Replace NewName
with the requested new name of the page (or with a question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). Leave the Subject/headline blank, as the template automatically creates the heading "Requested move 11 May 2016". Do not sign a request with ~~~~
as the template does this automatically. The template must be substituted.
Use the code |talk=yes
to add separate locations for survey and discussion.
Note: Unlike certain other request processes on Wikipedia, such as RFC, nominations need not be neutral. Strive to make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Ngrams and pageview statistics) and make reference to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topic. After the nomination has been made, nominators may nevertheless add a separate bullet point to support their nomination, but should add "as nominator" (for example, * '''Rename, as nominator''': ...
). Most nominators, however, simply allow the nomination itself to indicate what their opinion is. Nominators may also participate in the discussion along with everyone else, and often should.
RMCD bot notifies any Wikiproject listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or Noticeboard that might be interested in the move request.
Requesting multiple page moves
A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected articles, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).
{{subst:requested move
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2 = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3 = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please default to Google Books or Google News Archive before providing any web results. Do not sign this.}}
For example, to propose moving the articles Wikipedia
and Wiki
, put this template on Talk:Wikipedia
, and replace current2
with Wiki
. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article at page 1 (Talk:Wikipedia
). Do not sign a request with ~~~~
as the template does this automatically. Do not skip pairs of numbers.
RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of the additional pages that are included in your request, advising that the move discussion is in progress, where it is, and that all discussion for all pages included in the request should take place at that one location.

Commenting in a requested move
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. It is a place for rational discussion of whether an article should be renamed.
There are a number of practices that most Wikipedians use in such discussions:
- When editors recommend a course of action, they usually do so in bold text, e. g., "Support" or "Oppose".
- Start comments or recommendations on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *), and sign them by adding ~~~~ to the end. If you are responding to another editor, put your comment directly below theirs, making sure it is indented (using multiple *s).
- Please disclose whether you have a vested interest in the article, per WP:AVOIDCOI.
- Please have a look at the article before making a recommendation. Do not base your recommendation solely on the information supplied by the nominator or other editors. To understand the situation, it may also help to look at the history of the article. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior Requested Moves. They may contain relevant arguments and further useful information.
When participating, please consider the following:
- Ideally editors should be familiar with WP:Article titles, WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and WP:MOS (among others) which sets forth community norms for article titles.
- The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations on the course of action to be taken that are not sustained by arguments.
- When making your case or responding to others, explain how the proposed article title meets/violates policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
- Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.
- Do not make conflicting recommendations; if you change your mind, modify your original recommendation rather than adding a new one. The recommended way of doing this is to use strike-through by enclosing a retracted statement between <s> and </s> after the *, as in "•
SupportOppose".
Also, just a reminder that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but valid arguments will be given more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers arguments or evidence that do not explain how the proposed article title meets/violates policy, they may only need a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion. But a pattern of groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider a dispute resolution process outside the current Requested Move process.
Closing instructions
Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request, and more closers of move requests are needed, but there are certain procedures that need to be followed. Please read our closing instructions for information on how to close a move request.
Relisting
Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing. Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of WP:SUPERVOTE. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.
Relisting can be done using {{subst:relisting}}
, which also signs it automatically, and is placed at the very end of the initial request (after their signature, and subsequent re-listers signatures).
When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.
If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as to notify relevant WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}}. Applicable WikiProjects can often be determined by means of the banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request.

- (Discuss) – Yom Ha'atzmaut → Independence Day (Israel) – Please place your rationale for the proposed move here. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:09, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Corruption within the Wehrmacht → Corruption of high-ranking Wehrmacht officers – The current article title insufficiently reflects the true nature of the article. As stated in the discussions above this entry corruption within the Wehrmacht was far further spread than just to the upper echelons of the Wehrmacht. The current subject of the article exclusively deals with, I quote the intro, "Corruption within the Wehrmacht refers to the dishonest and fraudulent conduct of high-ranking officers of the Armed Forces of Nazi Germany to enrich themselves through bribes from the regime." The article title should reflect the specific nature of the subject. Calistemon (talk) 07:42, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Albert Ramos → Albert Ramos-Viñolas – Said individual's personal Twitter account gives his name using diacritics.[1] Rovingrobert (talk) 04:51, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Maurice Vachon → Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon – Although WP:TITLEFORMAT normally discourages quotation marks within titles, numerous sources use the proposed title: obituaries book, biographical dictionary, WWE Legends, this book, some autobiography, that book, book of lists, this book, Montreal Gazette, Intelligencer, White Bear Press, and CBC. As said in previous RM, "Maurice" and "Mad Dog" are separately used equally. George Ho (talk) 03:00, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Timothy Wolfe → Tim Wolfe – "Tim" is preferred over "Timothy" from this random search of "mizzou, wolfe." [10][11] [12] [13] Mark Schierbecker (talk) 02:37, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

- (Discuss) – Kaiping Diaolou → Diaolou – Diaolou exists all over Guangdong, Kaiping is not unique. Kaiping is only different in the number and concentration. Hence it is not to say Diaolous are specific to that particular city/area. I've been to Kaiping to vist those Diaolous, they are way more gorgeous than what one could find here in urban villages within Shenzhen or Dongguan... But I assure you there are significant presence of Diaolous in many other regions. *Support? Not sure what's going on here, but it seems like a good pagemove. ONR (talk) 23:59, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Draft:Natallia Krauchanka → Natallia Krauchanka – Reference added – Seventy99 (talk) 23:54, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Are You with Me (Lost Frequencies song) → Are You with Me (Easton Corbin song) – The page was originally moved to Lost Frequencies because at the time, they were the artists who had a single with it, whereas Easton had not. However, Easton has now chosen to release the song in his own right, and since he recorded it before LF did, it would make more sense to put the article title back at his name again since he is now the more associated artist. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 22:02, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Diatom → Bacillariophyceae. – Diatom is not the scientific name of the class and even confusing with Chemistry domain. At least it should be renamed to Diatomeae 91.117.65.254 (talk) 15:58, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – The Lady Vanishes → The Lady Vanishes (disambiguation) – The 1938 Hitchcock film is the original and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this, by both long term significance and common usage. As it is now fashionable to use pageview stats to illustrate such things, let me give you this: [14]. 22,358 views in the last 90 days, compared with just under 6,000 for each of the other two films, and 819 for the dab page. — Amakuru (talk) 14:23, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Catalonia → Catalunya – "Catalonia" violates WP article name policy on foreign names. It is not a majority usage. (Only in the U.K.) It is not how most people would look for the topic. We don't use "Saragossa" for the same reason. deisenbe (talk) 14:00, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Ultra-high-temperature processing → UHT milk – Every single sentence of this article is about UHT milk. McGeddon (talk) 13:18, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Adrián López (footballer, born 1988) → Adrián López – Even before I made the move the other week, this footballer was getting more than 15 times the views of the other one. The other player is yet to make 50 senior appearances, whilst this one has played for Spain at every level and played over 300 matches.[15] Unreal7 (talk) 12:36, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Draft:Ashley van Haeften → Ashley van Haeften – Completely revised and sourced BLP article. Previous version was a poorly sourced attack piece speedily deleted and is presently admin locked Luridaxiom (talk) 09:43, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Stylus Magazine → Stylus (publication) – Similar to Pitchfork Media (a move of which is currently being discussed also), this website is called "Stylus", not "Stylus Magazine", and "Stylus" is what it is more popularly known as. FamblyCat94 (talk) 06:52, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide → Starwood – WP:COMMONNAME. SSTflyer 06:51, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Next Scottish Parliament election → Scottish Parliament election, 2021 – None or the previous elections where put under thief 'next title' and had their year on the article title . Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 06:48, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Colorado Avalanche–Detroit Red Wings brawl → Avalanche–Red Wings brawl – The Penguins–Islanders brawl was moved back to its original title after undergoing a move such as this, due to the fact that adding the geographical names was wholly unnecessary. This article should follow suit as well. 2601:282:300:98:BD92:F012:50B7:7BBD (talk) 03:07, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Davao death squads → Davao Death Squad – The group's proper name is WP:COMMONNAME, see for example [16], [17], or [18]. -- PanchoS (talk) 01:49, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

- (Discuss) – Ready for Your Love (Gorgon City song) → Ready for Your Love – In ictu oculi moved this page in 2014 without any prior discussion, because he lives by this outrageous fallacy that there must never, ever be a primary topic, no matter how blatantly obvious a primary topic is. He created the other article solely to justify the move, even though the article of the band who performed the other song doesn't contain a single reference or have any information of their time together. Unreal7 (talk) 23:35, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Ochamchira → Ochamchire – It was long discussion about this issue, but it's clear that in English speaking world name Ochamchire is more common, even simple Google search shows that Ochamchire (with 270,000 results) is much more preferable than Russian influenced Ochamchira (112,000 results). So this request is in accordance to WP:COMMONNAME. --g. balaxaZe★ 21:49, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Joe Ellis (American football) → Joe Ellis – Statistics prove the sports businessman as more viewed than the basketball player. Also, the parenthetical disambiguation misleads readers into assuming that he is a football player. Actually, he was a marketing director and vice president of stadium management. The disambiguation page doesn't seem necessary at this moment. George Ho (talk) 20:33, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Chang You → Chang You (album) – Or previous title, Changyou (album). The "(album)" was removed without discussion. Statistics prove that the website article is more viewed than the pop album article. The current title must redirect to Changyou, the disambiguation page. As for English titles, the previous RM proves that the English titles may not be suitable as article titles. George Ho (talk) 19:54, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – West African Ebola virus epidemic → West African Ebola outbreak 2013-2016 – I think that at this point we can assign a clear ending date, as a single case doesn't really constitute an "epidemic." Also, the current title includes the word epidemic, which implies a relatively large scope, which this doesn't really meet in my opinion. Yes, some cases made it out into Europe, the United States, and elsewhere, but hardly enough to be called an epidemic. For this reason, I think that "outbreak" is more appropriate. Furthermore, I don't see why the word "virus" needs to be included. Ebola is a virus, not any other form of pathogen, so there is little need for it to be included. Finally, I believe that it is necessary to include dates because there have been outbreaks in the past and there will likely be outbreaks in the future. For the sake of clarity, I think that this move is necessary. Thanks, Gluons12 (talk) 19:30, 9 May 2016 (UTC).
- (Discuss) – Mysterious Ways (song) → Mysterious Ways – The U2 song is clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term; the song is viewed more than twice as often as the short-run TV show [19] Calidum ¤ 19:22, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Palm Springs General Hospital → Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus – Please place your rationale for the proposed move here. – 74.120.40.164 (talk) 18:59, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Erfurt massacre → Erfurt school massacre – Or Gutenberg-Gymnasium Erfurt massacre. This school incident is not more significant than Erfurt massacre (1349), which was a horrific tragedy on the Jewish community in Germany. Also, the base title should become of the disambiguation page. George Ho (talk) 18:14, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Worth It (Fifth Harmony song) → Worth It – Only one subject is notable enough to have an article, so no brackets needed. Unreal7 (talk) 17:19, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Draft:Cryptographic Software Obfuscation → Secure_Software_Obfuscation – seems technically more apt – Manalilatkar (talk) 15:04, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Bike → Bike (disambiguation) – seems like an obvious WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to bicycle to me. Nohomersryan (talk) 14:16, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – True Detective (TV series) → True Detective – The TV show is absolutely the primary topic. I'm actually doubtful the dab page is needed, because the essay isn't notable at all in comparison to the other two subjects. Unreal7 (talk) 12:30, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Danny Collins → Danny Collins (footballer) – Sadly this real-life footballer is no longer the primary topic, as more people seem to be after the Al Pacino film.[20] Unreal7 (talk) 12:11, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – 1979 Revolution: Black Friday → 1979 Revolution: Black Friday (video game) – Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and Deciding to disambiguate I think this article is very similar to the third item (in the latter guideline), where we have a primary topic (here Black Friday (1978)) and there's just another similar title (this article). So, we need to fix this ambiguity by renaming the article to the proposed title. You can look at the arguments occurred above, opposing this proposal. Mhhossein (talk) 11:21, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Falcon 9 booster controlled-descent and landing tests → Falcon 9 first stage landing tests – This page has cycled through several names since its creation, as the test program itself evolved. Now that we have reached a good understanding and documentation of the subject matter, I think that the time has come to settle on a final name that could last even after stage recovery becomes a routine procedure. The lead sentence already introduces the matter as the "Falcon 9 first stage landing tests", which is both precise and short. Appable once suggested to move the page to that name, arguing that "booster" was not the best descriptive word, and I agree with this assessment. Separately, N2e advocated for mentioning the whole process in the page title (atmospheric re-entry, controlled descent, landing and recovery), in the name of precision, and following discussion the page was renamed from "Falcon 9 booster landing tests" to "Falcon 9 booster controlled-descent and landing tests". I argued (but after the move was done) that this title was too long for casual readers. The core objective of this test campaign was indeed to land the rocket's first stage, so that all the necessary steps enabling this feat should be explained in the article but not spelled out in the title. Today I rephrased the lead section substantially, explaining that this technology development program covers the full EDL process for returning the first stage to the ground after it completes its mission. Therefore, in combination with Appable's earlier remarks, I propose today that the page should be renamed Falcon 9 first stage landing tests over the redirect which is currently sitting at that name. — JFG talk 08:47, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Saffron (color) → Saffron (colour) – WP:TIES – AusLondonder (talk) 08:40, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Edward Leong → Edward Leong Che-hung – The current name should become the title of the disambiguation page with Edward Leung (which I'm nominating separately) as redirect. - (Discuss) – Tigrayans → Tigrinyas – Extensive discussion has found the term "Tigrinyas" is more consistent with the description of the culture group described as opposed to other alternatives which are more appropriate for the description of a territory only some Tigrinya speaking people inhabit. Additionally, Tigrinyas does not have any political connotation (as the current title, Tigrayans, does) and seems the most accurate English term used to describe the ethnicity. Since the last move request, opposition comments has been addressed and detailed based on research library references over n-gram analysis which has confused geographical references with ethnic group references (the latter of which is the focus of the article). A well known research library that had a set of reference guides on ethnic groups and searched through each of them for the terms related to this subject. The results are above, but ultimately suggest that the page should be titled based on the language e.g. Tigrinya people. Again, I used this methodology to be as consistent with the Wikipedia policy to choose title that would be most easily referenced while remaining as precise as possible - Tigrayan cannot fit this mandate (too restrictive) while Tigray-Tigrinya cannot either (redundant). - (Discuss) – Natsuto Wada → Natto Wada – As stated above: While there are some sources that give "Natsuto Wada" [21], it would seem that the most common rendering of her name in English is "Natto Wada." For instance, in terms of Google hits, the latter [22] comes up with 7500 hits while the former only 470. All the other pages on Wikipedia also use Natto, and it appears continually in reliable sources: [23], [24], [25], [26], [27], [28], [29], [30], [31], etc. IMDb lists her as Natto Wada [32]. Ngram comparison comes up with nothing for Natsuto Wada [33]. All these are reasons why it should be moved per WP:COMMONNAME. I should also note this is very likely Wada's personal preference. The official website for Kon Ichikawa, her husband, gives her name as Natto Wada (わだなっと) [34]. Michitaro (talk) 00:49, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

- (Discuss) – Foundation bloodstock → Foundation stock – Per WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME. Foundation stock, which redirects here, is synonymous, and "foundation bloodstock" is primarily used in horse breeding (but the shorter term is also used in that subfield – see in-context usage at, e.g., [35], [36], and [37]). The long version is not typically found in breeding-related sources on dogs, cats, goats, etc., etc. The short version (Google: "foundation stock" -"foundation bloodstock" -wikipedia) occurs in a 211:47.5 ratio vs. the long one (Google: "foundation bloodstock" -"foundation stock" -wikipedia), i.e. is over 4 times as common. It appears that the article is at the longer name because it began focused on horse breeding alone, but has since expanded to include dogs, and will continue to expand to include other livestock and pet animals. The long version is such a specialized term that it occurs so infrequently in print that Google N-grams search produces nothing for it, but significant numbers of the shorter term [38]; ergo this is also a WP:RECOGNIZABLE issue. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 05:15, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

I don't see any reason that this was moved in the first place and now, one year later, this looks even more foolish. This is a word and we should treat it as WP:COMMONNAME requires. We should not use personal marketing agendas to push forward something that will obviously change at some point in the future. If I attempted to change the spelling of the "email" wikipedia article to eMail (because that is what it used to be called), I would be laughed at. History will look back at your decisions to keep renaming esports to "eSports" as the same as when people kept trying to keep email as "eMail". While you are giving some future historian a great thesis on how "e words" always went from "studly caps" to normal english spelling, I think we can all agree that enough is enough. Just look at the starting sentence of the current article. "eSports can be defined as a form of sports ..." . Is this any way to start an english sentence? - (Discuss) – Evergreen Point Floating Bridge → Evergreen Point Floating Bridge (1963) – As this bridge has been replaced with another at the same site with the same name (article here), I think we'll have to disambiguate. Did so boldly a few weeks ago, but was reverted as it could be seen as controversial (and, upon, further review I can agree with that). The old name should redirect to the new bridge's article, which could also be moved there, as it's the only in-service bridge. SounderBruce 20:53, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

- (Discuss) – John McCrea (musician) → John McCrea – -I think it is quite likely that the musician is the primary topic. He gets the most pageviews for "John McCrea" by a large margin (86%), and has long-term significance as a member of a band active for decades. Disagree with that? Well, I think you'll probably agree that the John McCrea currently occupying the undisambiguated page is not the primary topic, as his pageviews are minor; even at the undisambiguated page he only manages an astonishingly low 10% for all things John McCrea. - (Discuss) – South Portland → South Portland (disambiguation) – WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. Pageviews and Google search/news/books results all point to "South Portland" meaning South Portland, Maine, and as one of the largest cities in the state, it clearly has high long-term significance. - (Discuss) – Harry Connick Jr. → Harry Connick, Jr. – WP:JR does express a preference for not using a comma before Jr. It does, however, state that a "living subject whose own preference is clear and consistent" is one exception to the guideline. - (Discuss) – Ballymurphy Massacre → Ballymurphy massacre – Sentence case as recommended by WP:NCCAPS. Article title was originally ‘Ballymurphy massacre' but was renamed, apparently without explanation, soon after creation. Cannot be moved without intervention due to history (redirect categorisation) in the original page, but the name may be controversial anyway. Most sources that use the name appear to use lower-case ‘massacre’, eg Belfast Telegraph, Guardian/Observer, UTV. Some sources treat it as a proper name and use upper-case ‘Massacre’, eg Morning Star. The BBC uses both forms (lower case example, upper case example) but mostly doesn't use the word ‘massacre’. The campaigning website ballymurphymassacre.com uses upper-case ‘Massacre’, even in phrases like ‘The Massacre’. Lower case appears to be consistent with most similarly-named Wikipedia articles, eg Loughinisland massacre, Greysteel massacre, Kingsmill massacre. Andy Smith (talk) 17:52, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

- (Discuss) – Winnebago language → Ho-Chunk language – This article should be moved from “Winnebago” to “Ho-Chunk.” The motivation behind this move is that Winnebago is an outdated and pejorative term. I have three main reasons to support this claim. First, the name Winnebago was assigned to Ho-Chunk people by outsiders around the time of European contact. The label Winnebago was officially decried in 1993 as part of the Ho-Chunk Nation’s constitutional reform of the mid-nineties, and the tribe has exclusively used Ho-Chunk in all official capacities since then. The tribe’s website provides a background on the the term. Second, renaming the Winnebago language page would make it more consistent with Wikipedia’s main entry on the Ho-Chunk people which itself acknowledges the negative connotations of “Winnebago” in its Etymology section. Finally, all current academic papers on the Ho-Chunk language (tribally sponsored or not) refer to it as Ho-Chunk (or a spelling variation of that term), while those published around the 1980's and earlier use Winnebago. There are also a few papers which use Ho-Chunk as the primary term with Winnebago in parenthesis, to show that the more prominent modern term is referring to the same language as the former term did. One example of a recent publication can be found here: Hocak Teaching Materials, Volume 1. Several other graduate thesis/dissertations use this updated term as well, including Narrative particles in Hocak myths, People of the Sacred Language: Revival of the Hocak language, and The Syntax of Adjectives in Hocak. - (Discuss) – WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs → WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs – MOS:& requires us to respect the titles of works that use the & instead of "and". WWE's official title for the PPV includes the ampersand and every result referring to the PPV when searching their website for "Tables Ladders and Chairs" will exclusively use the ampersand. Furthermore, the titles of most of these articles use a comma right before the "and". This comma is not only syntactically incorrect, but it's not used by WWE on any documentation of the show. Furthermore, the prose of these articles use the correct comma-less title, so I am baffled as to how this oversight has lasted all these years. Feedback 04:49, 14 April 2016 (UTC) Relisted. This is what Professor Enver Ziya Karal, for instance, says in The New Turkey, published recently: "Our invasion movement of September 24, 1920, against Armenia ended in our decisive victory."[72] Then, Biyiklioglu, in the same fraudulent vein, "justifies" the Kemalist invasion of Armenia in the Fall of 1920 by[73] until September 1920 when the Turkish invasion forced Armenia Georgian-Armenian Relations in 1918-20[74] and to withstand the carefully planned invasion by the Turkish Nationalist armies.[75] The second stage coincided with the second invasion of Armenia in the fall of 1920, entailing[76] (by Vahakn N. - (Discuss) – Community organization → Community-based organization – "Community organization" may refer to either the process of organizing communities (it is then used synonymously with community organizing), or to the organizations (groups) evolving from this process (then synonymous with "community-based organizations"). This article mixes the two without making the ambiguity explicit. While some authors and organizations prefer one or the other term for "Community organizing" and while slightly different perspectives on the topic may play a role, the overlap seems too large to have more than one primary article on this topic. I therefore think this article should mostly be merged to Community organizing and refocused on "community-based organizations", therefore retitling. As one may not happen without the other, I'm combining these two requests into one, and am curious whether this turns out to be a good precedent for similar situations. --PanchoS (talk) 00:25, 6 April 2016 (UTC) Relisted. - (Discuss) – Edward Leung → Edward Leung Tin-kei – Current title should become the title of the disambiguation page or a redirect to Edward Leong, which I'm separately nominating. I added the hatnote for temporary use as it can be removed; otherwise, the use can be indefinite. The person himself may not be more prominent nor popular than the other. The name looks confusing as the surname is interchangeably spelled, homogenously pronounced, and rooted from the Chinese word, 梁. Sources that use the proposed name are SCMP, Vice, The Standard, ABC (US) News, Bloomberg, Reuters, and many others. Alternatively, if natural disambiguation is not possible, how about Edward Leung (activist)? George Ho (talk) 22:15, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

- (Discuss) – Hokkaido wolf → Ezo Wolf – The title is misleading or inaccurate - refer WP:MOVE section Reasons for moving a page. Kishida first named Canis lupus hattai in 1931 and published its name in English as the Yesso wolf (which is its pronunciation in Japanese): Kishida K (1931) Notes on the Yesso wolf, Lansania 3: 72–75. The Japanese refer to hattai as the Ezo wolf, and it is unclear when or why the name Hokkaido wolf also came to be used in the English-speaking world. The NCBI/GenBank uses the Ezo wolf as the common name for this subspecies:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Taxonomy/Browser/wwwtax.cgi?id=644627 Ezo is a Japanese word meaning "foreigner" and refers to the historical lands of the Ainu people to the north of Honshu.[moveprop 1] Western maps from the 16 century referred to "Yezo" as the lands to the north of the Japanese island of Honshu and into the sea of Okhotsk.[moveprop 2] The Ainu were to be found on Hokkaido, Sakhalin, the Kuril islands,[moveprop 3] and as far north as the Kamchatka Peninsula.[moveprop 4] The range of Canis lupus hattai was the Hokkaido and Sakhalin islands,[moveprop 5][moveprop 6]:p42 Iturup and Kunashir islands just to the east of Hokkaido in the Kuril archipelago, and the Kamchatka peninsula.[moveprop 6]:p42 It is clear that the name Ezo accurately describes the range of both the Ainu people and of hattai. The wolf went extinct on Hokkaido in 1889, however there have been reports of hattai surviving on Sakhalin and the Kuril islands up until the 1940s.[moveprop 7][moveprop 8] The name Hokkaido wolf is inaccurate when describing the range of hattai. As the range of hattai has now been more accurately reflected in the article and the date of its final extinction questioned, I propose that the name Hokkaido wolf is both misleading and inaccurate and the name should be changed on Wikipedia to Ezo wolf.

- (Discuss) – Carly Colón → Carlito Colón – These articles have been misplaced for a long time. Carlos Colón's most common name is unquestionably "Carlitos Colón". He became a household name in Puerto Rico under that name and still uses it today. He used his real name when working NWA and WWF shows in the United States because it was easier to pronounce in English, but his notability was mostly garnered as being the face of professional wrestling in Puerto Rico. Carlito used to go by "Carly" in WWC before he signed with WWE, but ever since he gained widespread international attention as "Carlito", he's exclusively used that name everywhere he goes, including back home in Puerto Rico, where he's known was "Carlito Colón". Clearly, this should be the correct article title as per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NATDAB. Any confusion with his father's similar ring name can be settled with a hatnote as per WP:SIMILAR. Lastly, both Carlito and Primo used the "Colón" surname while they tagged together in WWE and Primo also used it during his initial singles run. Primo also continues to use it when he works WWC a few times a year. Per WP:NATDAB, "Primo Colón" is the best title for his article. Feedback 00:34, 22 April 2016 (UTC) --Relisted. - (Discuss) – List of famous mosques → List of mosques – Per discussion in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of famous mosques, "famous" doesn't seem right. "List of famous mosques" was started in 2003 as "List of mosques" and should be returned to that. And the "Lists of mosques" should be moved to a navigation template. This requested move proposal is for that and all the rest of the proposal late in the AFD: :::::Proposal (restated): By principles that :::::a) The concept of "Famous mosques" is not yet defined, and if someone wants to create a good "List of famous mosques" according to some definition they can do so from scratch, later. :::::b) a "List of mosques" should exist that indexes all of Wikipedia's mosques, organized geographically. Such an index exists now in the "See also" section of List of famous mosques and also there is one within Lists of mosques. :::::c) The edit history of "List of mosques" should be that of the original 2003-started list now at List of famous mosques, created by User:Technopilgrim. It should not be that of the 2010-started Lists of mosques, started by User:UnitedStatesian. The current List of mosques has only ever been a redirect and has no edit history worth saving. I am the editor who redirected that to Lists of mosques and thereby was putting UnitedStatesian in the role of being the apparent master originator of the idea of having a list of mosques in Wikipedia, so I or Unitedstatesian are the (perhaps-accidental) "usurpers" I referred to. :::::d) The edit history of the current Lists of mosques is less important to save, but still important by Wikipedia's principles. It could be saved as the edit history of a redirect, say List of mosques by geography or, better, as the edit history of "Template:Lists of mosques" (proposed next), and that fact could be permanently mentioned at the top of the Talk page of the "List of mosques" which results from this proposal. :::::e) IMO "Lists of X" are invalid because they are self-referencing. What they really are, are "Wikipedia Lists of X". Only if the topic "Lists of X" is valid in the real world, i.e. if there really exist different historically notable defined lists of X out there (such as, making this up: "Linnaeus's categorization of species", "Buffon's list of species", "Species identified by Darwin" and "Species accepted as of the Seconda Esposizione of 1832") is it justified to have a Wikipedia article about the history and differences of those lists. However, a navigation template is understood to be self-referencing, to be a navigation aid to Wikipedia articles. So it is okay/good to have a navigation template named "Template:Lists of mosques" that indexes Wikipedia's distinct list-systems of mosques, which are: ::::::*List of first mosques by country ::::::*List of largest mosques ::::::*List of the oldest mosques in the world and ::::::*List of mosques (all of them, organized geographically) :::::Specifically then this proposal is to: :::::#Merge content of List of famous mosques to other lists. (HyperGaruda may have done all or part of that already.) Replace by index of geography-based lists (i.e. its own "See also" section). :::::#Move List of famous mosques over redirect to List of mosques (currently a redirect to Lists of mosques) :::::#Move Lists of mosques to Template:Lists of mosques and edit that to be a navigation template indexing Wikipedia's distinct lists of mosques. Or move it to a plausible redirect to List of mosques. Record fact of where its edit history ends up, at top of Talk:List of mosques. :::::#Edit Lists of mosques to redirect to List of mosques :::::#Put Template:Lists of mosques at the bottom of the list-articles that it indexes. :::::This proposal now achieves the main intentions of everybody's concerns expressed in the AFD, I think. doncram 13:52, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Generic trademark → Genericized trademark – Present name is an irrational oxymoron, and thus confusing to readers. There is no such thing as a "generic trademark"; if it's generic, it is not a trademark, even if it once had been. A (former) trademark can become genericized, and is then a genericized trademark, in the same sense that a cut-off leg is an amputated limb. It is still an ungainly construction; trademark genericization is really what this article is about, and is the most logical and WP:PRECISE term, but some might object on WP:CONCISE grounds, and I would weakly agree that genericized trademark is clear enough to use in the context of this article. By way of direct analogy, a (former) crime may have been legalized; in a particular context it can be called a legalized crime, but it is not a "legal crime". PS: I'm using -ize not -ise because the article already does. While "generic trademark" does occur in some sources, I see no evidence that it's the most common usage, and more to the point a) it is not the proper legal usage (i.e., the usage in sources that are actually reliable on this legal topic); and b) even if it were the common name we could still reject it on the basis that it fails WP:AT policy by being reader-confusing. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 09:48, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
