About meIn my real wiki-life, I am User:WhatamIdoing. I've been a regular editor at the English Wikipedia since 2007, and I've been in the top 500 most prolific editors of all time for a couple of years. My interests run from medicine to pastry to education, with odd points in between. I also spend a lot of time working as a metapedian, which in my case means supporting WikiProjects through the English Wikipedia's WikiProject Council and helping write policies and guidelines. Official mistakes are made here. Unofficial mistakes are still made in my personal account. To find me in my volunteer capacity, look for me at WikiProject Medicine on the English Wikipedia or say hello at User talk:WhatamIdoing. |
My workI'm a part-time independent contractor in the Wikimedia Foundation's Community Liaisons team. My main assignment is supporting improvements to VisualEditor by making sure that editors' needs and wants are considered in the WMF's decision-making processes. The community includes the power users (like me!) as well as the occasional editors, who have very different needs and very different ways of expressing their needs. We all want something that ultimately works for the core community as well as for the occasional editors and for those who would become more productive contributors with a less complicated editing system. I want to make sure that all active communities have the important help and information pages translated and that the software developers hear about their concerns as feedback and on Phabricator.Disclaimer: I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I try to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, and edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
