September 2008
You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Kiril Simeonovski. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.
Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.
If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 20:25, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Котов велемајстор.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Котов велемајстор.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Sneaky change?
Check the talk page. The change was discussed (here) and had consensus. Please assume good faith. If you are unable to do so, please refrain from further posting on my talk page. Thanks. Yworo (talk) 19:14, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Clearly I cannot patrol all biographical articles. I apply the rules consistently to the articles which I do edit. More than that is inappropriate to ask of me. Simply take matters into your own hands where you find articles which do not comply with the guidelines. Yworo (talk) 20:36, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not only did I see the talk page of the article, Vladimir Nabokov, I posted a comment on the talk page, a comment to which you did not respond or even, apparently, bother to read. Yworo (talk) 21:45, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Edit warring
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Vladimir Nabokov. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Yworo (talk) 20:47, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Macedonian Wikipedia
Hi, David. We've already reached 40,000 articles, and it was mentioned on the talkpage of the tmplate. As I can see, nobody have seen it. Could you please, add a link in the tier in the right order? Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:06, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- The Macedonian Wikipedia is composed primarily of stubs and placeholders. We omit such Wikipedias. —David Levy 14:18, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- How did you conclude it? Is it based on some criterias? I asked for establishing criterias (see here), but nobody responded.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:24, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- It appears that I explained the procedure (entailing checking 50 random articles) to you in the past. We haven't established a specific numerical cutoff because we're dealing with clear-cut cases that wouldn't approach it (no offense intended). —David Levy 14:31, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- Can you make a more specific explanation of your outcome, and contrast it with the standard criterias for checking random articles? It is common to see stubs, and placeholders, but I also check articles with long copy also.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:45, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking me to explain. Yes, there are some good articles, but they comprise a small percentage. —David Levy 15:37, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- Could you at least tell me the criterias for random checking the articles? I suppose that you use some kind of guide to use it. You said a small percentage. You agreed to add a link with Wikipedia in Basque, having 6 of 50 random non-stub articles. Using the definition for stubs, we have app. 10 of 50 non-stub articles. If you make just once, I propose to you to make the test more times, and to analyze the outcomes. The biggest problem are the date placeholders, but we're working hard to fix it. Your first respond was alike you were noted the suggestion from the user's accusation against Macedonian Wikipedia.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 15:45, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Re:Emmanuel Lasker
As you can see, very few people are listed simply as Soviet people and mostly because they don't' fit into any of the sub categories. Many present day Russian people who were Soviet citizens when that country existed are not listed as Soviet people, particularly if they do no fit into any of the Soviet people by occupation sub categories. And Lasker himself, despite attaining citizenship only stayed for a scant two years before leaving the country for good.
Instead of reverting Category:Soviet people, how about inserting Category:German immigrants to the Soviet Union instead ? I will do that anyway and if you have any further objections please respond in my talk page. If you still think that Category:Soviet people should be re-inserted than feel free to do it without responding to my talk page. Thanks. Tec15 (talk) 06:26, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
39th Chess Olympiad
Thanks for the expansion but I think the sentence "In the first round, the Yemen team refused to play against Israel. Each of the four Israeli players was thus awarded a technical victory." needs a citation. Could you do it? --BorgQueen (talk) 16:37, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- The source says: "Yemen has sacked the country's chess team and members of the governing body after its players competed against Israel at a tournament in Belarus. The Yemeni Sports minister, Hamud Mohammed Ubad, took the unusual decision after players ignored instructions to pull out if drawn against Israel, which is widely criticised in the Middle East for its policies towards the Palestinians." It doesn't say anything about Israeli players being awarded a technical victory. Am I missing something? --BorgQueen (talk) 16:50, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Fine, thanks. One last thing - the source says the tournament was in Belarus, and our article says it was in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. Which one would be correct? --BorgQueen (talk) 17:06, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

We're exploring new ways to explain why Wikipedia is so special and we’ve started a Wikipedia Stories Project, where we’re chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community, especially editors and active contributors in the movement like you. I'll be traveling to Wikimania next month to collect stories for our 2011 Fundraiser. While there I'd love the chance to meet with you and hear your thoughts about Wikipedia. We’ll have a schedule of available times for you to sign up if you’re interested, but right now, we’d like to make the initial contact to gauge your interest. Re: interwiki links
I don't really understand it myself, but I have noticed in the past that people tend to get annoyed when the number of wikis linked there gets to be rather large, even if they are relatively high-quality wikis (ie. not 90% bot-created articles). I think it would probably be best to propose it on Template talk:Wikipedia languages and see if anyone has any comments on it before I do that. Thingg⊕⊗ 18:08, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yeeah I see your point. Heh, I didn't really look at the numbers closely before. To be honest, personally I'm all for including lots of languages there even if it makes the template kind of long because I feel that having a direct link to them from the main page of the English Wikipedia would be a very good thing for those smaller wikis because of the massive amount of traffic the English wiki gets from people who aren't native speakers but may not be aware that there is a wiki in their native language. Evidently that is not the majority opinion though... Anyways, it's not a big deal to me either way. I don't have time to look at it now, but this weekend I'll try to look through the list of wikis and see where a good cut-off would be for new categories, like may 75000 for the lowest or something (or if you want to, you're more than welcome to; I've been pretty busy off-wiki lately). I'll let you know when I make the suggestion on the template talk page. Cheers. Thingg⊕⊗ 23:16, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --Taivo (talk) 23:52, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
In a 2007 arbitration case, administrators were given the power to impose discretionary sanctions on any user editing Balkans-related articles in a disruptive way. Fischer's US citizenship
That Fischer didn't lose his US citizenship is relatively easy to research and also documented in a WP article. So what gives with this? Ihardlythinkso (talk) 14:09, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- My edit was reverted but then I realised the difference and decided to agree with the reasoning beyond it. I came up with the idea to insert that category mostly because it includes the article List of former United States citizens who relinquished their nationality, which itself includes Fischer as one who relinquished his US citizenship and thereby is indirectly classified under the same category.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:16, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Do you really think it was a matter of "reasoning" and not simple reading?! (The category name you applied was: "People who lost United States citizenship".) Ihardlythinkso (talk) 14:35, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I wasn't able to find a category saying something like "people who denounced their US citizenship" and then the results of my search linked me to that category. It's not radically different at all since it includes a list of people (where Fischer is mentioned) who relinquished their US citizenship. Hence, the term "lost" in this context probably means to lose the citizenship anyway, regardless if the person denounced it or the authorities decided to take it away.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:41, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

- The article is generally in a good shape with slight pushes over some things that can be easily changed to make it more neutral presenting the facts in a more modest way. I've already made some technical changes in the intro and will next digest the article's body. It looks promising to me for a future good article, especially when having a such long queue of sources and citations.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:21, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

--Taivo (talk) 18:43, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

"Don't Bogart that ITN, my friend..."
I quite agree that no consensus was reached. But I think the decision of whether or not this is news, should have nothing to do with my personal view that individual US states are comparable with countries. Yes, I realise that USA is indeed a country. Some large bushes look like trees, some short stories look like novels, some seas look like oceans! Regards, Martinevans123 (talk) 20:02, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Indeed, it was a news enjoying insufficient support from the others to go on the main page. After realising that the matter could have evolved in a useless discussion, I decided to request closing the nomination and thereby allow others to focus on the other nominations. Regarding your personal opinion outlining your views, it's only yours and nobody can force you think in a different way. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 20:16, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 43rd Chess Olympiad
I have removed some of the content you added to the above article, as it appears to have been copied from http://www.chessdom.com/chess-olympiad-2018-to-take-place-in-batumi-georgia/, a copyright web page. All content you add to Wikipedia must be written in your own words. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa (talk) 20:20, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Diannaa. I am well aware about the copy-editing and that's why I deliberately changed some words to keep the same context. It was, however, inappropriate for me to change words in the sentence dealing with the budget allocation. Anyway, it's enough for now to have that article as a stub. Thanks for taking care. Videos
Do not embed videos that download. And probably a good idea to check with other editors about your videos. --Smokefoot (talk) 14:15, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Smokefoot: The opening paragraph of the video guidelines on Wikimedia Commons contains a sentence saying "The preferred video format is WebM but the ogv container is also allowed.". Hence, it's a bit pointless for me to discuss with the community about the use of videos with the preferred format. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 14:34, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- How are users to know that these downloads are virus-free?--Smokefoot (talk) 14:53, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Smokefoot: Please address your concern to the community on Wikimedia Commons. The users there will probably answer your question properly, because they established the guidelines. I'm just following the rules and recommendations. Best.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 15:38, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Credits in Captions
Hello! First, let me say I fully support having videos in chemistry articles. However, per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Captions, when adding visual media to an article, do not credit the author or copyright holder in the captions. The appropriate credit should be on the image description page. As such, I've removed "Planned and performed by..." from the captions of many of the videos you've added; please omit that part from the captions of any videos you add in the future. Thanks. ʍw 14:21, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
- Again, stop doing that. Don't give credit to the performers, producers, or organization involved with creating the video. DMacks (talk) 15:33, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Intervention in the SDSM article
Hi. The user: Mastersource is adding misleading information to the page of Social Democratic Union of Macedonia which is obvious right-wing propaganda. Could you please help me fix it as they wouldn't step down? Thank you. Macedonicus (talk) 10:12, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Macedonicus: Thanks for contacting me. I have paid careful attention on the whole incident and it seems that you should have contacted me before entering into verbal or edit war with the user. Disruptive editing across articles on topics in Macedonian politics is nothing new, as some users have been deliberately coming to illustrate their point on the English Wikipedia since the outbreak of the political crisis. Similar incidents have occurred, at least, in the articles on VMRO-DPMNE, Kumanovo clashes, 2015 Macedonian protests and 2016 Macedonian protests, which prompted reactions by the users working on improving their quality. We have always tried to resolve such incidents in a kind manner on the discussion pages of the articles in question but sometimes it was not possible to get over with the disruptive editing and the help was requested from administrators (please see WP:AN).
- For now, I have reverted the information added by the user and explained my opinion on the discussion page based on my experience in handling similar edit wars in the aforementioned articles. However, be aware that my comment is not written in stone and may be overturned by other users so that the content be re-added. It is also impossible to censor the user from adding the information at any price if decently high quality of citation is attained. Once there is an established reason for removing the content on the discussion page, its re-adding without proper improvement can be safely removed from the article.
- My friendly advice is to always remain calm and kind with the other users, refrain from using overly abrasive words, and ask for help from more experienced editors if needed. Take in mind that users from other countries, who cannot recognise the sensitivity of the topic as we do in our country, may notice your reaction and overtake sanctions against your behaviour before even getting introduced with the substance of the problem (note that the movement pays considerable attention to harassment as a focal problem within the community). The sockpuppet investigation you filed is also not the right way to handle this problem. You can reach me at kiril.simeonovskigmail.com if you need further help. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 18:17, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
