Products and Services
Current bartleby offerings include bartleby learn™, featuring textbook solutions and a Q&A service; bartleby write™, an all-in-one writing help tool; and bartleby tutor™, featuring 1-on-1 online tutoring.[2]
bartleby learn
Students may purchase a subscription to bartleby learn, which includes textbook solutions, a Q&A service, and a searchable database of previously asked (and answered) questions.
Textbook solutions provide access to millions of homework explanations, written by experts in over 20 different subjects, including business, math, engineering, science and social science. In giving students step-by-step explanations to complex problems, bartleby encourages users to understand concepts and gain the confidence to answer similar problems on their own.
The Q&A service also allows students to find additional academic support outside the classroom. Subject experts are available 24/7 to respond to students’ homework questions with step-by-step, detailed explanations. Questions are typically answered within 2 hours or less. Subscribers are permitted to ask 30 questions each month.
bartleby write
In 2019, bartleby introduced bartleby write, a subscription-based service designed to reduce mistakes, improve writing habits, and transform okay essays into stellar ones.[3] A proprietary AI (artificial intelligence) tool provides students a preliminary score and shows potential areas of improvement; it simultaneously checks for spelling, grammar, and accidental plagiarism while also providing a citation assistance tool.
bartleby tutor
Also in 2019, bartleby launched a tutoring service, bartleby tutor, which provides individualized help for homework issues, exam prep, complex concepts, and general writing needs. Students are able to communicate with tutors in real-time for as long as they need until they understand the concept.
History
Bartleby is owned by BNED, which is a public company that began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on August 3, 2015. In 2018, BNED announced the launch of the bartleby student success hub within its Digital Student Solutions (DSS) reporting segment. Previously, bartleby.com was a digital study tool operated by Student Brands, an education technology company acquired by BNED in 2017.[4] Due to the site’s ability to drive user acquisition via SEO, bartleby.com was chosen to serve as the foundation of a new hub of products and services offered by BNED and focusing on improving student success and outcomes.
