Tamil Thai Valthu, also romanised as Thamizh Thaai Vaazhthu (Invocation to Mother Tamil) is the State song of Tamil Nadu. The song was written by Manonmaniam Sundaram Pillai and its music was composed by M. S. Viswanathan.[1] Generally official functions of the Government of Tamil Nadu start with this song and end with the Indian National Anthem. The song is sung daily in schools all over Tamil Nadu during the assembly at morning.
Brimming Sea drapes exuberant Dame Earth!
With Beautified face in this exalted Indian Continent!
South! In particular Divine Dravidian Country!
As Aesthetic Thilakam on its beauteous curved forehead!
Like the Fragrance of that Thilakam, for the entire world to be delirious!
your fervor spread in all directions!
Oh! Tamil Lady!
Ever remain afresh Thee alone! Purity intact too!
Delighted! Praise thou beauteous Tamil, youthful forever! Awestruck!
Praise unto thee!
Praise unto thee!
Brimming Sea drapes exuberant Dame Earth!
Beautified face; the exalted Indian Continent!
South! In particular Holy Thamizhian Empire!
Aesthetic Thilakam on thy beauteous curved forehead!
Fragrance of Thilakam makes entire world delirious!
Oh! Goddess Tamil! Let your fervor spreads in all directions!
Many a life! Many a world! Creations of Thine! Decimations too !
Ever pervading Creator! Remain as ever! Ever as Thy have been!
Kannada, Joyous Telugu, Dainty Malayalam with Thulu!
Born of thy lips, the one that became many
Just like Aryan (language) you don't go out of use, your Everlasting and undying youth!
Ever remain afresh Thee! Purity intact too!
Delighted! Praise thou beauteous Tamil, youthful forever! Awestruck!
Praise unto thee!
Praise unto thee!
