Resource Request
Finding a source
- Tips for finding a source yourself
- Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
- Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
- Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
- Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
- Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE and Taylor & Francis
- Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
- Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
- Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
- Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.
Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a very large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.
- Making a request
- A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
- All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
- We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
- You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
- To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
- Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
- Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
- Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
- Filled requests are archived.
- Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request
- Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
- Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
- Notify (mention) the requester using
{{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}
. - You can:
- point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
- share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
- upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
- email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.
Copyright tips:
- Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
- Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
- Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
- Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Massive request - Latin American music charts of the 2000s decade
I'll be honest, this is going to be a pretty big request. I am requesting articles that list the top 10 most played songs of the week on Latin American countries in the 2000s decade. My Newspaper.com and Newspaperarchives.com accounts have expired and I am currently awaiting approval. From the Newsbank search, the earliest is from July 2003 with the publisher being named "Latam". The articles are titled "diez canciones mas populares" and from 2006 onwards is "10 canciones mas populares". Except for one article dated December 31, 1999, I cannot find articles for music charts prior to July 2003. If possible, I would prefer to get the articles zipped by year to make it easier to sort. I would really appreciate it! Erick (talk) 02:32, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Slipping rib syndrome: a condition that many have not heard of

Rodong Sinmun newspaper articles/ whole paper and Pyongyang Times
I would like to use the articles for List of trolleybus systems, Trams and trolleybuses in North Korea and individual city pages listed below. Dates are in yyyy/mm/dd. Finding these articles would be extremely helpful.

- 평양시에 부설될 무궤도 전차망 설계 착수 1959/02/02 page 2 for history of Pyongyang trolleybuses
Furthermore, I am looking for the full paper on these days to verify existence/ opening dates of these trolleybus systems, to be used in the list, since many are missing dates and to check the unsure dates. Some trolleybus networks are dubious, and the presence in Rodong Sinmun would be good to prove their existence.

Hello. I'm looking for 1990 World Championships and Games for the Disabled results to verify that Patrick Jarvis competed at these Games and his placings/events for my draft on him with any of the following sources:
- World Championships and Games for the Disabled – Athletics Results. Netherlands: Organising Committee. 1990 (found cited in Wikipedia).

I went to search "Fond du Lac Ojibwe school: With new school comes renewed pride " on Newspapers.com but only found a reference to the "Reader Direct Daily Menu" page, which talks about getting faxes of the latest news. Are there issues of this newspaper missing from Newspapers.com? Is there a query I'm not doing right here? I'm thinking there's an article published in that newspaper in 1993 about this school...

Aizag, generally speaking, just be aware that if you request 120 pages from a work, the likelihood of the request getting fulfilled is rather low (for any of the following reason(s): legal limits in some jurisdictions; because libraries won't supply this many pages though an ILL "scan" request; because people are reluctant to spend the time to scan 120 pages). Besides, at least from where I come from, vast parts of the book (and the requested page ranges) can be accessed via the Google Books preview: See here at Google Books. — Pajz (talk) 06:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Chapter 16 of Tom Karen's Toymaker?
Evening all,
Having been linked here from a happily resolved chat about possible copyright disputes through Google Books, thought I’d give this a shot.
Is anyone able to produce a copy of Chapter 16 of Tom Karen's Toymaker autobiography? It seems the author is talking about their time as a designer at Ogle Design, responsible for the design of the Dennis fire line of the 1980s, and I wonder whether there is anything to learn from that to add into any articles.
Think this is how it goes:

New York World
I'm looking for an article from 1865 in the New York World. the secondary source I have a picture of gives some clues to the article: A reporter visited the Pompey stone at the Albany Institute of History and Art with a "Dr. O'Callaghan" (presumably Edmund Bailey O'Callagha), Henry C. Murphy, and a James Hall. It includes the quote "It was found very carefully put away in a glass case and covered with a dust that indicated that for some years, at least, its quiet had not been disturbed." and "It must be remembered that this stone was found when there was no pecuniary inducement for the forging of such relics." That's all I know, I no longer have the secondary source. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to have full access to these books and see what I can take from them to add to articles related to the Istro-Romanians. They were the first two books in the Istro-Romanian language, so they are (or should be) valuable. Many thanks in advance. Super Ψ Dro 16:25, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- I have access to the second but I'm not going to scan the entire book. The notice at the top of this page also specifically states that "We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright". Therefore I'm not sure how this request is supposed to be fulfilled. — Pajz (talk) 07:30, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Would it be possible for me to get one third of the book out of this request and ask for the other two thirds later in the future? If not, what is the limit that I can ask for here? Half of the book, a third, or less? Super Ψ Dro 08:24, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- I have access to the first. TrangaBellam (talk) 11:57, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

- Super Dromaeosaurus, sorry for the late response, I missed your reply. Well, that's impossible to say, since it is based on legal and practical consideration, which both are different for different individuals. The only more or less common ground is that scans of full works are typically not possible. A third of the volume would be fine with me, just let me know which part you would be interested in (the first 63 pages?). Someone else may be able to help with other parts in the future (or now). — Pajz (talk) 18:47, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Pajz, yes, I'd be more than happy with the first 63 pages. Sorry for first having requested a full scan. Would it be possible for me to make a request to get another other third of the book in the next few months? (in 3-6 months, or more if necessary, I can wait)?
- TrangaBellam, the book is from before the 1920s and the author died more than 70 years ago. Are there copyright problems with requesting the whole of the first book? If so, I'd have enough with the first 30 or 40 pages of the book. It is shorter than the second book but I don't know if that allows me to order half of it or if only a third is acceptable in this case as well. Super Ψ Dro 19:46, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Request on study on Babur erecting a skull tower of the heads of his enemies.
I would like to see this study - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chanderi#cite_note-Chandra-5 - particularly the pages which are relevant to the ordering of the tower of skulls of the opponent if possible. I would like to see it so I can verify if it is actually the truth, since many facts about rulers in India simply turn out to be poorly backed - and more often than not, canards.

Five pages from an academic source
For the origin-related details of Muzaffar Shah I, I need copies of page nos. 38–42 of the following academic source:
- Siddiqui, Iqtidar Husain (1992). "Social Mobility in the Delhi Sultanate". In Habib, Irfan (ed.). Medieval India 1: Researches in the History of India 1200–1750. Oxford University Press. pp. 38–42. ISBN 978-0-19-562330-7.
I can see the following relevant details on the page no. 39 (via Google Books' snippet view), but the five pages are needed to avoid misrepresentation of the source:

Claude Du Bosc, Santerre and Watteau
Greetings. In another large request, I'm looking for the following:
- Goulden, R. J. (1982). "William Darres, Claude du Bosc and the European market". Factotum: 17–20. ISSN 0141-3635. OCLC 933322566. For Claude Du Bosc, notably for his publishing activities.CS1 maint: postscript (link)
- Grant, Maurice Harold (1953). A Dictionary of British Etchers. London: Rockliff. OCLC 3371226Same as #1; cited in Havlice 1973, vol. 1, p. 386, and AKL, vol. 30, p. 79. Unfortunately, there is no snippet view for copies recorded in Google Books, so I can only vaguely imagine the page-on-the-subject.CS1 maint: postscript (link)

Same as #1, #2, and #3; cited in Bignamini's 1988 study of George Vertue.CS1 maint: postscript (link)- Potiquet, Alfred (1878) [1876]. Jean-Baptiste Santerre, peintre: sa vie et son oeuvre (in French) (2nd ed.). Magny-en-Vexin: Petit. OCLC 458077934. For Jean-Baptiste Santerre, as it is practically the first prominent biography on the subject, following Dezallier d'Argenville's account. While it never was republished since the 1878 edition, and is likely a public domain work, it is not available in digitized form.CS1 maint: postscript (link)

ISBN 978-1-4094-0137-7 – via Google Books. Same as #5, plus for a portrait believed to be of Charlotte Desmares.CS1 maint: postscript (link)
- Glorieux, Guillaume (2011). Watteau. Collection Les Phares (in French). Paris: Citadelles & Mazenod. pp. 372–377, 380–383. ISBN 9782850883408. OCLC 711039378. Page 168 — received in a previous request — mentions a portrait of Charlotte Desmares painted by Jacques Aved, with a note reference; because of that, I'm looking for the notes section to make this statement clear. Also, although I've previously received the index of people mentioned in the book, I'm interesting if there's one more index, as OCLC records the book to have 383 pages.CS1 maint: postscript (link)

As it has been unfortunately taken down from the Internet Archive, I have to request the chapter-in-question, most notably for pages that discuss Actors of the Comédie-Française.CS1 maint: postscript (link)

Doing... #3 & #4 (probably on Tuesday). The others are not as easy for me to access (different library; mandatory pre-registration and limited access due to Covid; etc), so hopefully someone else is in a better position to help with those, but if not, you can give me a ping. Oh, and I don't have access to #5. Seems like quite a challenge. There used to be someone here who occasionally visits the British Library, so perhaps they could help, although it seems somewhat dubious if anyone would even be allowed to reproduce a 20-page volume from 1876 by themselves (I wouldn't where I live). Maybe through ILL (as photocopies). — Pajz (talk) 07:08, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Esther Waters
Davis, W. Eugene (1977). "'"The Celebrated Case of Esther Waters"': Unpublished Letters of George Moore to Barrett H. Clark". Papers on Language and Literature. 13 (1).- Dorré, Gina M. (2006). "Late-Century Aesthetics and the Cultural Economy of the Turf in George Moore's Esther Waters". Victorian Fiction and the Cult of the Horse. Routledge.
For Esther Waters. The Davis essay looks to have been republished in The Celebrated Case of Esther Waters: The Collaboration of George Moore and Barrett H. Clark on Esther Waters: A Play (University Press of America, 1984, ISBN 0819142212), along with two versions of the play. I imagine the article version's more likely to be accessible, but in case anyone finds themselves in a library with the book, the relevant chapter would probably be just as good. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 15:34, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Chemistry paper, likely discusses actinoid oxidation states
Can anyone help me find this article?
- G. V. Ionova, V. G. Pershina, and V. I. Spitsin, Zh. Neorg. Khim., 28, No. 12, 3107 (1983)
I saw it cited in this article about relativistic effects in chemistry; based on what it's cited for, it would likely be of use in actinide or relativistic quantum chemistry.
