Spam blacklists |

|
The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist. Any administrator can edit the spam whitelist. Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions (web pages to unblock), Proposed removals (sites to reblock), or Troubleshooting and problems; read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. See also MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.
Please enter your requests at the bottom of the Proposed additions to Whitelist section and not at the very bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~
Also in your request, please include the following
- The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
- The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
- An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
- If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request
Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http://
from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com
or similar with nothing after the /
character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.
Note: do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.
There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response. You should therefore add this page to your personal watch list or check back here every few days to see if there is any progress on it; in particular, you should check whether administrators have raised any additional queries or expressed any concerns about the request, as failure to reply to these promptly will generally result in the request being denied.
Completed requests are archived, additions and removal are logged. →snippet for logging: {{/request|1051707631#section_name}}
Note that requests from new or unregistered users are not usually considered.
Admins: use seth's tool to search the spamlists.

Notice to everyone about our Reliable sources and External links noticeboards
If you have a source that you would like to add to the spam-whitelist, but you are uncertain that it meets Wikipedia's guideline on reliability, please ask for opinions on the Reliable sources noticeboard, to confirm that it does meet that guideline, before submitting your whitelisting request here. In your request, link to the confirming discussion on that noticeboard.
Likewise, if you have an external link that you are uncertain meets Wikipedia's guideline on external links, please get confirmation on the External links noticeboard before submitting your whitelisting request here.
If your whitelist request falls under one of these two categories, the admins will be more willing to have the source whitelisted if you can achieve consensus at one of the above noticeboards.
Proposed additions to Whitelist (web pages to unblock)
Request to add PoolGenie to whitelist
I was trying to add sources to paragraphs I added in Decentralized Finance, blockchain and market maker from the docs.poolgenie.xyz.
The website was however rejected because of the ".xyz" extension that is blacklisted by Wikipedia.
The paragraphs I want to add in the before-mentioned Wikipedia pages are partly composed of important information extracted from the docs.poolgenie.xyz that provides articles about Decentralized Finance new topics and explains some major concepts related to cryptocurrency and blockchains, specifically to yield farming, liquidity providing, automated market makers and decentralized finance.
The information provided is relevant and should be added to the mentioned Wikipedia articles to keep them updated since Decentralized Finance is a new hot topic and the docs.poolgenie.xyz explains in detail many of its major ideas such as impermanent loss, a very important concept in Decentralized Finance, for which I plan on creating a Wikipedia Page about, using information extracted from the docs.poolgenie.xyz.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kran9910 (talk • contribs)
Site Removel Proposal From Blacklist
- 99lyricstore.com: Linksearch en (https) (insource) - meta - de - fr - simple - wikt:en - wikt:fr • MER-C X-wiki • gs • Reports: Links on en - COIBot - COIBot-Local • Discussions: tracked - advanced • COIBot-Link, Local, & XWiki Reports - Wikipedia: en - fr - de • Google: search • meta • Domain: domaintools • AboutUs.com • Alexa
Please remove 99lyricstore.com from blacklist domain. I have not seen warning that's why I'm putting links again and again. I will never do that again please remove 99lyricstore.com domain from blacklist. GamerAakash (talk) 05:13, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- @GamerAakash: this is the whitelisting page, removals from blacklist have to go to the blacklisting page, so: Defer to Local blacklist (but please read the instructions at the top of that page). I note here already that you got a warning here and here on October 4, 2021. That has resulted in an orange banner at the top of your wikipedia page. You continued to edit on October 10 2021, so you had the chance to see the warning. Moreover, another account, user:Raftaar Hip-Hop got warnings for spamming this site in July 2019 and August 2019, however added it between the warnings (diff and diff - hence had a chance to read the warnings but did not take action) and after: diff. Warnings were issued, warnings were not heeded, spamming continued, now we protect Wikipedia from these (unwanted) additions. --Dirk Beetstra T C 05:53, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- It is even worth throwing in the copyright issues around publishing copyrighted lyrics without permissions? There is ZERO benefit to Wikipedia to permit links to this site. It is not a reliable source, it doesn't meet WP:EL criteria. And this request isn't coming from an established editor, but the site owner with a vested interest in promoting their site. Ravensfire (talk) 13:52, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- Not done No compelling reason given for delisting, wrong page anyway. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:51, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
ludwig.guru
The whole .guru domain is blacklisted as mostly used by spammers, but ludwig.guru is a notable exception: it's a sentence search engine that, unlike Google, searches only reliable sources (mainstream media, newspapers etc) rather than the whole web.
It is targeted to professional writers, journalists, translators etc as a tool that "helps you write better English by giving you contextualized examples taken from reliable sources", and it would be very useful on Talk pages, for example to discuss WP:COMMONNAME matters. I've just used it to check which one is more common: targeted to or targeted towards (it's the former btw, 87% vs 13%).
It has a freemium business model, so anyone would be able to open a link to the site, not just subscribers. I am not connected to the company; I am just a satisfied subscriber who was surprised to discover that wikipedians aren't already using it. --Deeday-UK (talk) 14:41, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Deeday-UK: Isn't "toward" the correct word instead of "towards"?
- Done. I have no objection. We have whitelisted other .guru domains. ~Anachronist (talk) 06:54, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

This domain was blocked because the content is user-generated and of highly variable quality, with the expectation that individual pages would be unblocked case-by-case: MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/October 2020#HubPages.com niche domains
I'd like to request whitelisting of three pages and an index page by one particular author.
- Link requested to be whitelisted:
owlcation.com/@katiearmstrong
- Link requested to be whitelisted:
owlcation.com/humanities/History-of-Kimono-Part-2-Nara-and-Heian-Periods

- Link requested to be whitelisted:
owlcation.com/humanities/History-of-Kimono-Part-4-The-Early-Modern-Period-Edo-Period
These seem to contain good English-language summaries (with bibliographies) that would be useful in kimono and Japanese clothing#History. HLHJ (talk) 00:47, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
Seasteading Institute closed Indiegogo
Link requested to be whitelisted: www.indiegogo.com/projects/designing-the-world-s-first-floating-city

This URL is currently being used in the Seasteading article as a reference. I plan on starting a page for Seasteading Institute and it will use the same URL as a reference. MarshallKe (talk) 14:14, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- This looks like a primary source. It's better to cite secondary sources. Stifle (talk) 15:15, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- It very much is a primary source, but WP:PRIMARY very much allows primary sources with caution and Wikipedia in practice frequently uses primary sources. It would be a concern if this were the only source for the article, but there will be well in excess of 10 sources, most of which are secondary. This source has a very minor role in supporting a single sentence that describes the project's fundraising on Indiegogo. MarshallKe (talk) 15:51, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- See User:MarshallKe/Seasteading_Institute. The sole purpose of this citation will be to support the claim that they "raised $27,082 from 291 funders in a crowdfunding campaign". MarshallKe (talk) 19:20, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- @MarshallKe: if the fact that they raised 27.082 USD is noteworthy, then that statement itself will have secondary sources. Dirk Beetstra T C 04:23, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- Per WP:NOTEWORTHY, I am not sure that is a valid application of policy, and in addition, it would certainly seem that a large portion of content on Wikipedia would have to be deleted if this were true. MarshallKe (talk) 12:02, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- That amount is really a pittance, not enough even to compensate the people running the organization. I wouldn't say it's noteworthy. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:57, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
- The comment above yours explained why noteworthiness is not a valid concept in Wikipedia. I even linked directly to the relevant guideline. If you'd like to play that game though, it may be noteworthy that they received so little funding. MarshallKe (talk) 18:36, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

I just did a basic clean-up of Creo Inc. and then tried to add an EL to a more expansive company history, per:
- Link requested to be whitelisted:
company-histories.com/Creo-Inc-Company-History.html
(Creo Inc. company history)
Unfortunately, this site is apparently blacklisted for reasons unknown to me. However, I respectfully submit that this page (at least) adds significant value to the Creo Inc. article and suggest that this page (at least) is white listed.
Enquire (talk) 21:48, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- Not done, sorry - that one is blacklisted as a massive copyright violation farm; see the RFC. We cannot link to those. I've verified that the entry you're wanting to link to is a straight-up copy of International Directory of Company Histories, Vol. 48.. Just use this:
- <ref>{{cite book | last=Derdak | first=T. | last2=Grant | first2=T. | title=International Directory of Company Histories | publisher=St. James Press | issue=v. 48 | year=2002 | isbn=978-1-55862-466-5 | url=https://books.google.com/books?id=tgPYAAAAMAAJ | access-date=2021-10-21 | page=123}}</ref> Kuru (talk) 00:50, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Please see discussion on WikiMedia for more details on the reason for the request, one user there had suggested a local whitelisting of the domain in this local area of Wiki. Multi7001 (talk) 14:56, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Multi7001: Declined, this was heavily spammed recently, a block did not help, local blacklisting did not help. Ask for a spcific link for a specific goal, but we are not going to blanket whitelist this after the abuse we have seen from this domain. --Dirk Beetstra T C 19:03, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- I could not imagine an SEO spambot being used in this instance. I do agree with your logic, however. I will see if the specific article from Mental Daily actually warrants inclusion in a Wiki page and if so, will ask for its inclusion rather than just the whole domain. Thank you for the input!
