Thank you for your feedback! RE: Made in NYC (nonprofit)
I really appreciate for your feedback regarding the Made in NYC article I wrote — I just updated the article to include more citations from newspapers and government forms.
Seeing as this is the first article I've written, I would love to know your recommendations for how else I can improve it!
Thank you again, Elady12345 (talk) 03:17, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

- Thank you! I just added the {Distinguish} template "Not to be confused with Made in NYC (nonprofit)" to the top of the Made in NY page and the Made in N.Y.C. page. I also added some categories to the bottom of the article. Thank you for all your help!

- Thank you again for all your advise for how to improve my writing and editing! I'm really enjoying being able to contribute to the Wikipedia community — it's a fun way to make use of the summer! I just have a quick question regarding the first article I put together. It seems the article was moved back to the Draftspace with the reason being that the article needs more reliable, independent sources. I'm just trying to figure out what other sources I should add. After going through many pages of Google and I was able to find an article from the House Beautiful magazine, a report from the U.S. Department of State, a NY Times article referring the the "Made in NYC Week" event, and an AMNY article. What do you think about these sources? I just want to improve my writing as best as possible and I would love to know what you think—
- Thank you again!

Maintenance template removal
Hello, you placed a maintenance template on Air-Tite Products regarding subjective wording. I believe I have corrected any wording issues that this could be in reference to. Will you please review my changes and remove the template from the article if those issues were properly addressed? Thank you for your guidance and time. MusicDude92 (talk) 07:46, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
- @MusicDude92: There is still some wording in there that's a bit iffy, for example:
In addition to needles and syringes, Air-Tite offers a wide variety of products for human healthcare including...
, orAir-Tite provides a broad range of products for laboratory and industry use...
, plus the use of®
and™
marks. It comes across as written for an sales or investment pitch rather than an encyclopedia article. The goal is just to inform, not to talk about how great the company is. ... discospinster talk 20:29, 14 June 2021 (UTC) - @Discospinster: That all makes perfect sense. I have since corrected these possible issues. Thank you for your advise, I will keep that in mind for my future contributions to the Wikipedia community. MusicDude92 (talk) 09:00, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Discospinster: Thank you again for your assistance in helping me to get this article up to Wikipedia standards. I really appreciate your responsiveness and value your input.
- As you have already taken the time to work with me a bit on this article, I was wondering if you could possibly continue to mentor me some in the continued revisions of it? It appears another user has added an advert maintenance template to the page since you removed your maintenance template, and I am unsure of where to focus on making changes in my writing style. To me, the article appears to be written in an un-biased, neutral fashion, and I do not see any promotional content in it. I am still a bit of a novice in the Wiki-community, so any sort of guidance or feedback would be greatly appreciated! I would not want to continue to create content that may go against any sort of guidelines. MusicDude92 (talk) 14:06, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
- @MusicDude92: It would probably be a good idea to reach out to User:DGG about this, since they are the one who placed the tag. I wouldn't want to guess on the reason, except that maybe there is still too much "corporate-speak" (e.g.
it diversified its business into multiple market verticals
) that doesn't belong on an encyclopedia article. ... discospinster talk 20:59, 20 June 2021 (UTC) - @MusicDude92: I consider it essentially a catalog listing of products, with a list of scattered applications. It uses fully capitalized tradenames, and uncited statements of quality (e.g. " At the time, it was the thinnest needle available as a disposable option") Apparently I and discospinner disagree on the merits of the article, diffefent reviewers sometimes do see articles in different lights-- but unless it is much improved I am very likely to list it for deletion, and then the community will decide. I notice also that almost all your work here is on one brand of hypodermic needles--making an article about it and adding links to it from more general articles-- it is reasonable to ask whether you are a connected contributor, in which case you must declare the connection. Please see our rules on Conflict of Interest If you are writing this for pay or as a staff member of the organization, see also WP:PAID for the necessary disclosures. DGG ( talk ) 23:54, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Discospinster:@DGG: Thank you both! I will continue to try to find more appropriate wording. As this is new territory for me, I was unaware that capitalized tradenames were inappropriate on here. I was just trying to make the article as accurate as possible in doing so, but will work on correcting this as well. User:DGG, I disagree with the thought of it being a catalog listing of products. Please consider however that this industry is literally medical devices. It makes sense to me to reference notable products, similarly to why you'd expect to find all of the different release histories listed for macOS, for example. As for the COI, I already answered that question when you asked on my talk page, but I will share it for you here as well. As I am still a bit of a novice, I do not have much work on here to begin with (so to judge "almost all" of my work is not covering much). I actually temporarily stopped creating content when I discovered the article I created was not up to standards so I could learn to improve before I continued my work. Regardless of that, I am also unsure of which brand you are referring to, as I have covered many brands and companies in the little bit of writing that I have done so far (a majority of which actually involves music). Nevertheless, I am not working for any particular brand nor am I being paid for my contributions. This is an industry I have a lot of interest in and believe I could share a wealth of knowledge to others who are interested in it as well. If you have any more tips for how I could improve moving forward, please let me know! I'd greatly appreciate any sort of assistance.

Query
Hello, Discospinster,
I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. Lately, I've been looking at a list compiled by a bot of pages that have been recently moved from main space to draft space. What I'm looking for are instances when the main space location redirect to draft space has not been tagged for deletion. But also what I occasionally run into are experienced editors & admins moving pages into draft space and then the page creator recreating the page back in main space so there are two different versions. Reading Wikipedia:Drafts#Moving articles to draft space, it says that if the page creator objects to this move, they can move the article back from draft space to main space. So, that's fine...although the pages moved back are likely to be tagged for deletion, that's their choice.
But there is nothing about what to do if an editor just ignores the move and restarts up the article in the main space. Some recent examples of where this happened to moves you did are Arana Edmonds, Dior Johnson and Thai people in Vietnam. So, is the new version also moved to draft space? Are they merged into one draft article? Or should I just ignore it and let the page creator take their chances with the new page patrol? I know if there was one right answer to this problem it would be included in the policy guidelines so I guess I'm just asking what you would do when you come across these incidents. Thank you! Liz Read! Talk! 04:49, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- I guess you don't want to address this. Liz Read! Talk! 00:17, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
- If it's the same person who wrote both the draft and the new article there doesn't need to be a history merge. I would usually just put it back in draft space if it's still not suitable to be published. ... discospinster talk 00:21, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

User Shatimpya
Hi, I notice that you reverted Shatimpya's removal of an AfD request on Lucy Chege, and that Shatimpya reverted your reversion. The AfD currently exists and has just been relisted. One of the dilemmas in the AfD was that a chunk of the article on Lucy Chege had been cut-and-pasted from her LinkedIn profile, the other that she appears to have written a friend's article, and he wrote hers, a sort of tit-for-tat self-authorship. Shatimpya has added a statement to the AfD debate simply stating "The copy-paste issue has been resolved", which I find misleading. There is no indication of how it's been resolved, or by whom, and since the text was removed from her LinkedIn profile, presumably it's harder to check now. Looking at what Shatimpya has so far done, it's been exclusively edits to try to prevent the deletion of Lucy Chege's article, and the article of the person who wrote the Lucy Chege article. I smell a rat. I wonder if Shatimpya is either a sock of one of them, or someone closely related to the pair of them. It appears to be an account with one purpose. I am not a sufficiently experienced editor to know how to proceed with such things. I suspect you probably are! Would you mind either letting me know what to do, or doing something, if you think it appropriate? If I'm completely wrong, please do tell me so. Many thanks! Hello,
Harald Hadrada & Tostig arrived in the Humber Estuary on 18th September & sailed up the Ouse & landed at Riccall on 20th September (not 24th September, hence my alteration). Riccall became their base camp. The same day, the Vikings then marched north towards York about 11 miles away, but were met at Fulford by the Saxons who had marched just over 2 miles south from York. The rest is history.
All the best.

My additions were deleted
Not sure why my brief additions were deleted yesterday, I believe by another contributor. I was there, at the first Bishop Luers competition when “swing choir” as a recognized style shifted. I was a member of Marion High School (Indiana) “26th Street Singers,” that won the Bishop Luers High School Swing Choir competition in Jan 1975. The shifts in styling were significant, being largely responsible for a change over from Swing Choir, with ladders and stools and drum breaks between sets, to today’s Show Choir style, ie, full choreography, sets, costume changes, etc. If what I added was offensive, I don’t know why. And even the info about the Bishop Luers competition, as the first of the many competitions to come. That info was already there. I was simply adding some brief and interesting first-hand history. Wonderful why this was done. PointeMark (talk) 23:39, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

Recent Block of Risean_12345
Hi. I don't think we've spoken before, so please excuse the intrusion into your day!
I notice that you've recently blocked User:Risean_12345 indefinitely. I can understand why you've done this - they didn't react positively to guidance on their recent actions, many of which were unhelpful. I'm not asking for the block to be lifted, as making that request is clearly up to them, but I hope that if they do decide to request an unblock you will err on the side of leniency. The account is relatively new, and internal evidence (imperfect use of English, difficulty in adhering to our norms, etc.) suggests that they are finding the Wikipedia way a challenge. From where I'm sitting, it looks like the user is trying to make useful contributions, but hasn't yet learnt how to do this, nor how to work effectively with others. The user's actions don't look like malice to me, they just look like difficulty in mastering how we work. If User:Risean_12345 responds to this block with a commitment to learn better behaviour and a desire to perform more consistently with community standards, I hope you'll take this into consideration in reviewing the block. - I wouldn't be the one reviewing the block anyway, but I disagree that an indefinite block is unwarranted. The editor's actions may not be malicious but they do demonstrate a lack of competence and an attitude suggesting they are not interested in learning how to contribute properly. In my experience it does not get any better. ... discospinster talk 13:57, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Notorious behavior
This editor is notoriously editing this page despite the citation clearly mentioning the clan to be a Bhumihar clan. Moderators kindly take notice of this guy. bhaveshk162 18:08, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
On chinese americans
Sorry there was a typo on my explanation, I removed repated information that can be seen on the cited wikipage under Notable Chinese Americans section. Please also see Ukrainian Americans and American Jews, they do not repeat their notable individuals again.
Check UAA
Hello, I reported a user at WP:UAA whom you recently blocked. It looks like the user's edits and username were redacted on other pages; you may want to also redact them at UAA. Wikinights (talk) 00:42, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Deletion of Chris Boswell (real estate agent)
DiscoSpinster, It is clear that most of the editors do not fully understand or realise the enormity of selling the amount of real estate my subject has in such a short space of time, in a market that is less than 20 years old. Another editor made a comment comparing "The London property market" to Dubai which is totally uncorrelated. The London market is hundreds of years old where as the Dubai Freehold market is 19 years old. To sell a property of that value ($50m) in the UAE is a phenomenal amount and cannot be compared to other property markets, hence the Media coverage and interview requests. If you refer to other "Real Estate Agents" in the US who have sold property of equal value, press coverage is similar and have been included into the Encyclopedia. I'm confused as to why. The record Sale is registered within the Land Department System (Citation Included). My subject is a notable member of the real estate community and frequently mentioned and interviewed in the domestic media. I respectfully request you kindly re-review and reconsider. Malayalam
Please do as I advised you, then answer, instead of just repeating your statement as if you hadn't been answered. Pronunciation of a word is never by an alphabet, it's always in a language. 5.240.133.139 (talk) 15:56, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- Pronunciation by an alphabet is exactly the point of the International Phonetic Alphabet. Do not change it to Malayalam. ... discospinster talk 16:05, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Editing Competitive Intelligence article
Hi there,
I suggested adding at least one open-source/free source for competitive intelligence articles because the sources listed are subscription/fee-based. In the removal, I only saw a note "no article found," but the other sources have no articles either...just a link to an institutional page. I am not clear why the revision was rejected.
Bad will?
What is the reason behind the instant revert of my edits? I only added the official Greek transcription.--EllatheElefant (talk) 01:07, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- Because this is the English Wikipedia, where his name is Kenan Bargan. ... discospinster talk 01:09, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- He is a Greek citizen while he has a a name in the Greek script... It has its own transcription into English. This is ridiculous.--EllatheElefant (talk) 01:11, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- You did not indicate that you were adding a transcription, either in the article or in the edit summary. ... discospinster talk 01:13, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
