Welcome to my Winter Wonderland!
Some general things to know about my Talk page...
If you write me here I will respond on here. If you write me on your Talk page then please tag me there and so I can respond there. If a discussion is begun in one location then please keep it there for the sake of continuity. I may move discussions to keep them in one place when they are related.
I will archive discussions regularly but no longer than 6 months at a time so if you don't see a particular discussion please look in my archives before alerting me.
I have some rules on my talk page I would appreciate being observed by everyone: be kind, be nice, and be understanding. Honesty is important and how you feel is valid but if you are upset by something I have done or said or something said here by others then please step back, take a deep breath, and approach me calmly- I'm totally willing to listen and will admit if I have made a mistake and apologize, regardless, if I have offended you!
Sometimes it may take longer for me to reply. If a few days pass without a reply, please forgive me and send out a search and rescue team to find me. I undoubtedly fell into a hole somewhere. I will respond as soon as it is humanly possible for me to do so.
My Talk page is regularly monitored by helpful Talk Page Stalkers and Wikifriends. They may comment or offer assistance from time to time and their presence is both wanted and appreciated. They are my guests as long as they don't eat all my cookies. :)
Please note that it is 1:55 AM (-9 UTC), where I live.
This page is best viewed using Mozilla Firefox but may cause some issues for viewers using mobile application. I am posting this statement as a courtesy for mobile users and to let them know I will work to find a solution.
I was archiving my talk page and saw a previous comment you had left, and realized it's been a while since we've crossed paths. I hope this winter has been treating you well! Curbon7 (talk) 07:15, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Curbon7, it's so good to hear from you. How's your pup doing? Winter has been okay here and thankfully it's almost over, for a few months anyway (lol). If I can ever help you with anything content related or if you just need a quick chat to help motivate you or take a break from editing then my talk page is always open. I'll leave the fire lit and a warm cup of tea on the stove. --ARoseWolf 13:54, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Things have been pretty good for me irl; winter is finally gone here in Mass, today was the first day I've been able to wear a short-sleeved shirt outside since October! As far as editing, this past month has been awful lol. The major downside about becoming a respected editor: people rely on you waaaaaaaaaaay too much, I'm learning this the hard way. I should've just stuck to being a Wiki-gnome lol. Curbon7 (talk) 08:28, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Curbon7, The second it hits 45 here I'm going for a swim in the creek near our house. There aren't many downsides to being respected but I can see how that could disrupt your flow when you are used to things a certain way. I have had people rely on me all my life and in very difficult situations I might add, some I can help and some I can't, so I can relate to how you are feeling about being overwhelmed at times. But I have one overriding fear in life...irrelevance. Not the relevance of being known like famous or something but having an impact, even if it's forever beneath the surface where few ever venture and most names remain among the dark shadows. As it relates to editing, my difficulty is in finding my niche in again. I haven't spent as much time in main space as I should like and it's been difficult to get back there. I wrote three articles in the first few months of being an editor but none created since, just flurries of copyediting and such. I do have a few drafts in the works but getting sick with leukemia really set me back and it's been hard to get my footing again. I just try to encourage others where I can, host at the Teahouse, be a mentor (something of the sort) and assist where I can. All of this leads to my desire to eventually get back into writing and creating. I've just lost focus and that opens up to all these voices at once, which is more common than most could understand. Oh to only be a Wiki-gnome and be content, such bliss. lol --ARoseWolf 15:36, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh gosh I really hope your health gets better! And yeah, it might take some getting used to again, but if you have a topic you're really passionate writing about, it could help you get back into the swing of things. I have the same thing sometimes with article creation where I have bouts of creativity and then periods of break. And hey, you're plenty relevant as through your line of editing you've definitely left your mark on this encyclopedia. Curbon7 (talk) 15:55, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Curbon7, thankfully I have been in remission since early to mid-September of last year and I'm pretty much back to doing the things I did before, just more conscious of my limitations and looking after my body. Tnank you for your kind words and I know we all have our impact. It is nice to hear it from others sometimes. --ARoseWolf 16:15, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
memories: two people on DYK, both connected to Oper Frankfurt, and don't miss yesterday's video of Pink Floyd given to me! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:11, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

another Ukraine day today: Maks Levin DYK, expanding Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (have tickets), and creating Anthony Robin Schneider, the bass who could be heard opening the singing in Beethoven's Ninth twice on 10 March 2022, live in Frankfurt, Germany, and recorded in Auckland, New Zealand, singing "Freiheit!" (freedom) instead of "Freude" (joy), in a tradition started after the Fall of the Wall. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:40, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
... no time yet for the May pic, - just saying that you could use my rainbow pic to create your own "barnstar" - here are examples with other pics --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:21, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So sweet of you, Gerda. I'm looking over those templates now. A rainbow indeed! :) --ARoseWolf 14:28, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am new to Wikipedia editing and I want to know how to help, I have used this website for a long time. --Kennethborwn (talk) 22:08, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you came to me @Kennethborwn: and I'll try to assist you as best I can. There are many ways you can help here on the encyclopedia, such as writing articles, copyedits to existing articles, and participating in deletion discussions. Wikipedia provides innumerable sources for you, as a n editor, to learn how to edit properly here. Some have already been provided to you on your user talk page. You are encouraged to view these sources and use what you can learn from them to help us create a better encyclopedia.
As a reader you know the importance of making sure the information provided is accurate and reliable. For our policies on the use of reliable sources and what subjects are considered notable I recommend these two links (WP:RS and WP:N).
Writing a new article and getting it approved for mainspace here on Wikipedia is one of the hardest things an editor can do on the project. It is recommended that new editors perform smaller edits to the encyclopedia before attempting to write a new article. Because of this, Wikipedia has provided some helpful information on writing your first article (link provided).
Being an editor on Wikipedia is the very highest position on the project. Our admins and other positions are editors first but have been entrusted with certain tools to assist the community with enforcement of policies, protection of the information contained on the project and clerical/administrative actions needed to make the English version of Wikipedia function properly.
On a more personal level, one of the most important but commonly overlooked aspects of the project is the need to remain civil in our discussions, even in the face of heated adversity to the position we may hold. Without civility most discussions devolve into shouting matches where one side tries to grind down the other until they submit. That's not how healthy collaborative efforts should be. A consensus of editors is the foundation of this effort and to gain it we need to collaborate effectively. Please keep this in mind when you interact with others here. I hope I have assisted you in some way and if you have further questions then please do not hesitate to ask them here or on the Teahouse. --ARoseWolf 14:25, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi
I am trying to write an article about a notable person who lived in my city (~1889). When ever I try to upload a portrait of him, Wiki says it can not verify if it is something allowed.
Candied tangerine, thank you so much for coming here with your question. It can be so difficult to navigate Wikipedia at times. You may peruse WP:IMAGE or follow this direct link WP:UPIMAGE to learn how to prepare and upload an image directly to Wikipedia. You might also consider uploading the image to Wikipedia Commons. Either way I suggest you read the Image use policy prior to uploading. I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of service in any other way. Good luck and happy editing. --ARoseWolf 18:50, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Teahouse
Hi, ARoseWolf! I have a question about answering questions at the Teahouse and I don't want to overly bother busy Panini. I'm not sure how well I've answered so far, particularly on the question I edit-conflicted with you on earlier. I wanted to ask if it's better if I offer the help I can give if a question hasn't been answered for a while, even if I can't answer it all or make a mistake, or to wait and let more experienced editors handle it? This thread, for instance, hasn't yet been answered and while it's highly specific in content, if it follows the core content policies could it not be a Wikipedia article? Perfect4th (talk) 18:12, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, I'm glad you came here, Perfect4th, with your question or concern. I think you answered very well. We all are at different levels of understanding when it comes to Wikipedia. I think you and I answered as well as we could. David actually had a better understanding after looking at it further and wrote a more completed answer to the question. Sometimes it works that way. I say, if you feel you can offer a response that is informative, points them to a solution and remains civil yet firm in policy then go for it. Edit conflicts are a regular thing on the Teahouse (lol). I usually don't answer questions on something I don't have much experience with but making a mistake or two is part of the Wikipedia experience. We learn and grow. Be bold! :-) --ARoseWolf 18:26, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your help! I will keep that in mind. I definitely have a lot more to learn! :) Perfect4th (talk) 18:47, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect4th, you are most welcome! Feel free to stop by with questions, concerns or a quick chat anytime. Let me know ahead of time and I'll put some cookies on to bake. ;-) (lol) --ARoseWolf 19:05, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sunshine!
Hello ARoseWolf! ─ The Aafī(talk) has given you a bit of sunshine to brighten your day! Sunshine promotes WikiLove and hopefully it has made your day better. Spread the sunshine by adding {{subst:User:Meaghan/Sunshine}} to someone else's talk page, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. In addition, you can spread the sunshine to anyone who visits your userpage and/or talk page by adding {{User:Meaghan/Sunshine icon}}. Happy editing! ─ The Aafī(talk) 17:55, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
TheAafi, thank you for the sunshine and the wikilove. It is most precious to me as are you. --ARoseWolf 18:29, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
One really feels happy while knowing that some nice people on the other end of earth hold him precious. Thanks! ─ The Aafī(talk) 22:03, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A cup of coffee for you!
There are few things that I appreciate more than a warm cup of coffee to help me get through the day, especially during cold and long winters. It has been a while and I came to say hello — how have you been and are you staying sufficiently warm? I hope this coffee helps! How has your health been? — The Most ComfortableChair 18:46, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Most Comfortable Chair, I'm so happy to hear from you. A warm cup of tea or coffee always makes me feel better. We've moved above freezing during the day. It's almost swimming weather (45°f). We're still dropping into the low to mid 20's at night. I'm ready for Summer and wildflower salads. I feel the best now since my diagnosis. I'm still in complete remission and I'm enjoying every detail of life. --ARoseWolf 19:15, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's very good that you are feeling well and in remission. I'm glad to hear it. --Tryptofish (talk) 20:07, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Tryp. I appreciate you more than I could ever express. I get a lot of, I genuinely feel somewhat unworthy, compliments for my kind and caring nature but how can I not be kind and caring towards a community of people that have given me so much of the same. Like the primary rainbow with its reflective bow seen as a double rainbow, I reflect the kindness and caring nature of the Songs I am so fortunate to listen to here through your edits and discussions. So the compliments belong to you and I am honored to know EVERYONE that has EVER come to this talk space or that I have met out in any of the other spaces. --ARoseWolf 20:21, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Music to my ears! Winter has started to fade where I am at and I am going to miss it. But here's to this coming summer, and many many many more summers that you are going to be ready for! — The Most ComfortableChair 15:42, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How can I protect a page I created from editing by other users? --AmarUjalaWiki (talk) 10:51, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just noting that the account asking that question has been indeffed. --Tryptofish (talk) 20:10, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Tryptofish, Thank you for updating me on this. I had run across them at the Teahouse and was concerned by the similarity with their user name and the articles they were writing/editing. I guess Cullen saw that too. All I could do is warn them but decided to do it in a welcome. --ARoseWolf 12:47, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your post for Hammersoft! - I have the quirky DYK today, which is rare, and I don't quite know why music for peace was deemed quirky. - I took and picked the blue-and-yellow pic last year for May. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:00, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I hate that I can't communicate what I want to say sometimes and I hope it came across right. I can support all individuals involved while also expressing concerns. I love your pictures, Gerda. They are always so beautiful and speak volumes to me. --ARoseWolf 14:08, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Don't hate please - I agree that pictures are sometimes an easier expression. This one looks a flag to me, blue and yellow living, with green for hope (against all odds, as El C said). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:12, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Gerda Arendt, okay, no hate. :) You know, all three colors are in the rainbow. Green is absolutely the color of hope and life reborn/renewed! I see the flag and I agree, against all odds, we must hope! --ARoseWolf 14:40, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I created an article with a misspelling in the person's name and have asked for speedy delete. Is this something you can activate?
Thank You --Kaybeesquared (talk) 20:53, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) If you misspelled the page title, you can just move it to the correct spelling, by Help:Move. It's no problem to leave the misspelled name behind, as a WP:Redirect. If there is something that you created that you still want deleted, and no one else has edited it, you can just do what it says at WP:G7 (blank the page to be deleted and then put {{Db-g7}} at the top of the page), and an admin will find it pretty soon. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:43, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Kaybeesquared, it's never a bother. I'm thankful I have such amazing watchers. --ARoseWolf 12:10, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
