RE Draft:Decatur_Tribune
Dear Idoghor Melody, thank you for taking the time to review the draft for Decatur Tribune. You appear to be a prolific editor and must be very busy. I am proposing a Wikipedia article for the Decatur Tribune because it is a small town newspaper. Small town and rural newspapers play an important role in the health and vitality of their communities. 2/3 of the residents of rural communities prefer their printed newspaper rather than a digital format. Small town newspapers fill the gaps in local and social news that do not appear in larger regional newspapers. You have declined the article citing deficiencies in source material. I am submitting to you the following list of small town newspapers who have a Wikipedia article with no more comprehensive material or sources than those that I have included with my draft:
- New Telegraph
- Urhobo Vanguard
- Osun Defender
- Nigerian Daily Sketch
- Nigeria CommunicationsWeek
- Kingman Standard
- Granville Sentinel
- Peninsula Gateway
- Franklin Banner-Tribune
- Cashmere Valley Record
- The Nashua Broadcaster
- Statesman-Examiner
- Montgomery County Chronicle
- The Altamont Enterprise
- Black Chronicle
- The Daily Territorial
- The Star (Tinley Park)
This is a representative sample of pages similar to the one that I have proposed for the Decatur Tribune. I have confidence that after reviewing these other pages you will accept the Draft:Decatur Tribune for inclusion in Wikipedia. Thank you for your further consideration and time. - Hi @BuffaloBob: Thanks for your message here. It isn't a good thing or a good idea to compare article A with article B. That article A has only one source does not mean article c should have two or one source. With that said, I acted on my own judgement of notability and you can resubmit for another reviewer to take a look. Thanks for coming here, you can ask more questions if you have any. Question from Owenbreitbarth (14:02, 12 June 2022)
Hi Melody :)
Is there a way to change my username after it’s created? I think I would like OwenBreitbarth better. In camel case. --Owenbreitbarth (talk) 14:02, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Owenbreitbarth: Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. Yes you can change your username. Usernames can be changed by global renamers and requests can be made at Wikipedia:Changing username. I hope this helps. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 17:43, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi – and, yay! I’m not sure about the exact format yet… spaces seem to be allowed, too. Right? Owenbreitbarth (talk) 06:54, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Owenbreitbarth: Yes, spaces are allowed. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 21:19, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi - please could you explain in some more detail why the article I wrote has not met Wikipedia's guidelines? My article was about a British firm that has been continuously in operation since 1909, and has played an important historical role in the aerospace and motor industries in the UK. It is one of very few family-owned firms left of this size and age. I would have thought this qualified as notable?
All the sources I referenced were also external sources - so meet the criteria of being independent.
Please could you provide further explanation?

- @MardiGrasCantab: Hi, thanks for dropping a message here. I did my review and a message was sent to your talk page too. Instead of questioning why I didn't accept, you should maybe resubmit and someone else will take a look at it. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 11:14, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
