Re: ANI
There are actual behavioral issues being discussed; "I don't like being dragged to ANI" is not a behavioral issue, neither is not wanting to communicate with someone templating them. If there were no underlying problematic behavior, that response to being dragged to ANI would be completely appropriate. I am posting this here because posting it at ANI would be counter-productive to what I am suggesting, which is to let the locus of discussion be the actual problematic behavior. (And of course feel free to ignore it.) --JBL (talk) 19:00, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
ANI
Hi! This is to acknowledge that I have seen your replies to me on the thread that's now been closed. Obviously, there is no point to continuing that conversation now. I just wanted to thank you for your polite and on-point responses. It's an unfortunate situation which I wish would have resolved better but I have no doubt on the absolute good faith of everyone involved. Regards! And, Happy holidays! Usedtobecool ☎️ 12:59, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. Honestly this wasn’t the resolution I wanted (that would have been simply a temporary ~1 month block for the uncivil/disruptive behaviour) but that T-ban was waiting for Lugnuts there whenever he next went back there, because he hadn’t made any of the changes people asked for the last time he was there. nomination of Jack James (fencer)
Thankyou for your nomination of Jack James (fencer). I am in the process of going through every article in birth years. I started in 1927 births and have worked my way back to 1914 births. I have seen lots of these articles sourcesd only to olympia.com and sportsreference.com, or only to olympia.com. Some may have other sources that people did not find because the default notability guidelines meant people did not feel a need to hunt down more sources before creating an article. This is going to be a large scale project, but I commend you for starting it.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:47, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- So if I understand right, sportsreference.com is an attempt at being more comprehensive than Wikipedia wants to be, and so is not a source adding towards GNG. So Justo José Caraballo, which is an article only sourced to it, is no where near having the sourcing to pass GNG, at least in its present form?John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:49, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
Request move
Hi, hope you are doing well. I recently closed a RM at Talk:Girl of My Dreams (The Moffatts song)#Requested move 29 December 2021. I moved Girl of My Dreams → Girl of My Dreams (The Moffatts song), but unfortunately i couldn't move Girl of My Dreams (disambiguation) → Girl of My Dreams. I think it can only be moved by a page mover. Could you please do this? TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 05:36, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
I was not aware of this user right until i closed this discussion. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 05:37, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
Williams Haskins
I have to agree with you, that we have no good indication that people searching for this name are looking for an unremakable olympic athlete. Actually since I came across the article through running down the whole birth year list, I have severe doubts people go looking for the article at all.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:42, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
Victor Putmans
Victor Putmans is the first article I have come across where it only says he might have played football, could have done this, without any actual claims of having done anything for sure. What do you think the best approach to this article is?John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:47, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Commendable work on the Rolf W. Schnyder article, FOARP. My opinions on notability notwithstanding, you've done a great job. MIDI (talk) 17:40, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

Discretionary sanctions topic area changes
In a process that began last year with WP:DS2021, the Arbitration Committee is evaluating Discretionary Sanctions (DS) in order to improve it. A larger package of reforms is slated for sometime this year. From the work done so far, it became clear a number of areas may no longer need DS or that some DS areas may be overly broad.
The topics proposed for revocation are:
- Senkaku islands
- Waldorf education
- Ancient Egyptian race controversy
- Scientology
- Landmark worldwide
The topics proposed for a rewording of what is covered under DS are:
- India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan
- Armenia/Azerbaijan
Additionally any Article probation topics not already revoked are proposed for revocation.
Community feedback is invited and welcome at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Motions. --Barkeep49 (talk) 16:59, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Essays on place inclusion criteria
Similar to you're essay Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a gazetteer I've started 2 other essays on similar things and you're input would be useful.
- Wikipedia:Substantive content, for articles that don't contain any content other than location etc.

The Anne Rice Award honors editors who have improved Wikipedia's coverage of women writers by creating a biography of a women writer who used a pen name, nom de plume, literary initials, or pseudonym on the title page or by-line of their works in place of their real name. On behalf of WP:WPWW, thank you for creating the biography on Elin Améen (pen names, EA, Elisa, Lina and Mn). --Rosiestep (talk) 22:35, 1 February 2022 (UTC) |
To answer your question
Hello. You asked about grave dancing and the post in question is this one. Not very tactful, even though you said you were uncomfortable with the thread. Lugnuts certainly didn't like it as it inferred a pre-judgement of his demise as an editor. Anyway, I've said all I have to say and I'm going back to writing articles.
Btw, I don't entirely fear a red planet but it would be an unmitigated disaster if we ended up with a blue one. All the best. No Great Shaker (talk) 16:47, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- PS - I will additionally note that this does not at all substantiate what you accused me of. FOARP (talk)
Hope I’m clear
Gymnastics qualifying is incredibly complicated, even under current rules. So, hopefully I explained it clear enough, I’m a bit lousy at explaining things even when I understand them perfectly. Honestly, most of those articles don’t really seem to pass the notability test, but I’m not an expert. Afheather (talk) 05:04, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

I think you might have confused the Meadow Oaks AFD with a different one; this discussion involves a verified current community, abet a non-notable one. BilledMammal (talk) 09:07, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
India Census
Greetings. Was wondering if you could help me out. A while ago (sorry to be so unspecific) there were a bunch of articles created by a single editor on small communities in India. Initially, you either speedied or prodded them, since they were all solely sourced to a non-reliable source. Then you self reverted and added a link to the appropriate India census page, showing that they did indeed meet WP:GEOLAND. I come across this quite frequently during NPP, but for the life of me, I'm a bit dense and can't figure out how to search that database. I clicked on one of your ref links, and plugged the name of the entity into the search field, and it simply brings up the page which you referenced, not a new search result. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. But if I could learn how to use that tool, that would save a lot of time reverting/draftifying/prodding etc. articles which are poorly sourced and don't have any links to show it is an official place. Case in point is Jarjangi, which I came across today. If I could simply look it up in the census, I could simply add the source and mark it reviewed. Anyway, any help you could throw my way would be appreciated. Onel5969 TT me 11:35, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- If its a village with census data its probably inherently notable, as noted before most census places are notable and most villages are notable. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:41, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
Advice on procedure
This concerns the article Romuald Giedroyć, in whose talk page on November 5, you clearly stated that there was No Consensus. User:Marcelus wrote to you later that day on your talk page, so, he clearly knew about your closure. Despite that, he moved the page on January 18 from Romualdas Giedraitis → Romuald Giedroyć, which is a clear breach of Wikipedia guidelines and rules. Perhaps you could revert Marcelus' unwarranted move. I was thinking of writing about this in WP:RM and it requires involving the closer of the discussion - as this is my first time doing this, perhaps this should not go to WP:RM, but elsewhere, I don't know. Best regards.--Cukrakalnis (talk) 14:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Karelians page move
Hi. I'm not sure if I understood the given arguments correctly, but multiple users on Talk:Karelia (historical province of Finland)#Splitting proposal came to the conclusion that neither Karelians or Karelians (Finns) are a primary group in English. The DAB page Karelian also already exists with multiple links on it. --Vilutar (talk) 13:23, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Vilutar, the issue is that the proposed DAB was (as argued effectively with reference to WP:ONEOTHER and Wikipedia:Primary topics in WP:ONEOTHER situations) not needed to achieve this - a simple hat-note on the article achieves disambiguation. Karelian exists with multiple links - but not just two links. FOARP (talk) 13:56, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
- It's difficult for me to say anything as the moving of the page was never a part of my original proposal (on the other page) and maybe the people who wished for the moving should be doing their own work on that front. I still struggle to understand what you mean by the last sentence since we have situations like Indians linking to Indian which has multiple links on it, so it would make sense to me with the same logic that Karelians would link to Karelian with multiple links on it. Vilutar (talk) 14:03, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
