Development
By April 2014, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that additional storylines for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) were planned through 2028,[1] resulting in many films "on the docket that are completely different from anything that's come before—intentionally".[2] During Marvel Studios' panel at the July 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Feige announced several films and Disney+ television series in development for Phase Four of the MCU,[3] before revealing the film Blade and a film based on mutants were also in development.[4][5] After the panel, Feige confirmed that the projects announced before Blade were the full Phase Four slate at the time.[6]
Ryan Reynolds confirmed in December 2019 that a third Deadpool film after 20th Century Fox's Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018) was in development at Marvel Studios,[7] with his production company Maximum Effort co-producing the film.[8] By November 2020, development had begun on a second season of the television series Loki,[9] which was formally confirmed in July 2021.[10] Development on a series centered on Echo as a spin-off from Hawkeye began by March 2021.[11] By the end of the next month, a fourth Captain America film was revealed to be in development as a continuation of the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).[12] By June, in addition to What If...?, Marvel Studios was developing a slate of at least three more animated series.[13][14]
Development on a series centered on Agatha Harkness as a spin-off from WandaVision began by October 2021.[15] The following month, Marvel Studios officially announced Echo and Agatha: House of Harkness, along with an animated Spider-Man prequel series titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year and the What If...?-related Marvel Zombies.[16] By mid-November 2021, Marvel Studios was working on an unknown project with Scarlett Johansson, who would serve as a producer,[17] and by the end of the month, Marvel Studios was planning at least three more Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland with Sony Pictures.[18] The following month, a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) was announced, with Destin Daniel Cretton returning to write and direct. This was in addition to an overall deal Cretton signed with Marvel Studios to develop television projects for the studio for Disney+;[19] a comedy series was in development at that time as well, through Cretton's company Family Owned.[19][20] Later in December, Marvel Studios and Sony were actively beginning to develop the story for the fourth MCU Spider-Man film.[21] By March 2022, a reboot of Marvel Television's Netflix series Daredevil (2015–2018) was revealed to be in development,[22][23] as was a project featuring the character Richard Rider / Nova that was likely to be a Disney+ limited series,[24][25][26] though had the potential to be a film instead.[24]
Disney has scheduled additional release dates for unannounced Marvel Studios films on November 3, 2023,[27] as well as February 16, May 3, July 26, and November 8, 2024.[28]

Future
Untitled Deadpool film
After the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney was announced in December 2017, Disney CEO Bob Iger said Ryan Reynolds would reprise his role as Wade Wilson / Deadpool from 20th Century Fox's R-rated X-Men films Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018) in the PG-13 rated MCU.[41][42] By December 2019, Reynolds confirmed a third Deadpool film was in development at Marvel Studios,[7] with Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin writing the film by November 2020,[43] when Reynolds' involvement and the film's R-rating were confirmed.[43][29] In January 2021, Feige confirmed the film's MCU setting.[29] In March 2022, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were hired to return from the first two films to rewrite the screenplay, while Shawn Levy was revealed to be directing.[33] Reynolds' production company Maximum Effort co-produces the film.[8] Filming is expected to begin after 2022.[44]

Untitled Spider-Man: No Way Home sequel
By August 2019, a fourth MCU Spider-Man film was reportedly in development alongside Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).[46] In November 2021, producer Amy Pascal revealed that Sony and Marvel Studios were planning on making at least three more Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, with work on the first of those films getting ready to begin.[18] Marvel Studios and Sony were actively developing the film's story the following month.[21]

In December 2021, a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) was announced to be in development, with Destin Daniel Cretton returning to write and direct.[19] Simu Liu was expected to return as Shang-Chi by the following month.[47]
Untitled mutant-centered film
At the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Feige announced Marvel Studios was developing a film for mutants, which include X-Men,[3][5] and said those terms are interchangeable and that the MCU depiction would differ from 20th Century Fox's film series.[48]
