DYK for Kenneth E. Fields
On 26 May 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kenneth E. Fields, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Kenneth E. Fields was in command of the engineers at the Ludendorff Bridge during the Battle of Remagen? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kenneth E. Fields. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Kenneth E. Fields), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

I'm discovering a number of books in nuclear arms proliferation by Joseph Siracusa from Melbourne though there does not appear to be a article for him and his contributions to this field; is there a reason that he does not have a Wikipedia page, or is it notability? ErnestKrause (talk) 17:40, 30 May 2022 (UTC)
- Most likely because no one has written one. My experience with articles on academics is that good biographical sources are hard to find. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:11, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Project Pluto
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Project Pluto you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. MILHIST project template
I've just noticed your edit summary at Talk:Resource war and thought I'd explain that I added the template in that form because WP:MHA seems to suggest doing so. Looking at it now, maybe it doesn't suggest that, but when adding Wikiproject templates I'm probably usually an idiot in a hurry. If you've noticed others doing the same and it gets on your nerves/serves no purpose, you might think about revising the project page so it no longer seems to make that suggestion. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 16:48, 3 June 2022 (UTC)

1916 Pioneer Exhibition Game
Four things:
- (1) Thanks for all of the extra tips. I have, as suggested, adjusted the Commons links, and added a number of additional references (which may satisfy the embedded requests for the insertion of more links to additional, relevant references in a number of sections).
- (2) Strange, and extremely interesting that you refer to "The Oarsmen".
My old classmate, Kenneth G. Ross, was engaged for some considerable time in the (now completely abandoned by Ken) attempt to get support and interest in a film script, centred on the "Murray Cods" — Murray_Bridge, South Australia#Sport, and, also, Australia at the 1924 Summer Olympics#Rowing (also follow, at that second location, the links to each individual) — all of whom, I believe, although highly motivated (and collectively and severally highly skilled) rowers, were very greatly disillusioned and dis-satisfied with their lot in post-war-Australia ex-servicemen, who were desperately hoping (through their enterprise of rowing together once more) to capture some of their pre-war team-centred sense of belonging. - (3) Also, FYI, in relation to what I am 100% convinced is the mis-identification of the "Maxfield" in the programme, and listed as one of those photographed, as the future Richmond footballer "Snowy" Maxfield, although at this stage, I have not been able to locate any sort of photographic verification, I have been able to make contact with a couple of genealogists whose work is, in part, centred on a group of "Maxfields" from Tasmania (around Launceston), a number of whom were also on Salisbury Plain at the time of the match, awaiting their move in late November to France and active duty. I'm currently waiting to see if they can provide any verification (or, at least, on-going advice)
(Seems to me that, given age, height, weight, physical condition, etc. that it all adds up to: [7].) - (4) At the moment, uncertain of how to go about the DYK and "on this day" entries. Once again, "Thanks" for your kindness, consideration, direction, advice, and support. Lindsay658 (talk) 06:17, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- Just to let you know that I have done my best with the DYK submission that I have just made. Lindsay658 (talk) 10:29, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
J. Robert Oppenheimer scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the J. Robert Oppenheimer article has been scheduled as today's featured article for July 16, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 16, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.
For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.
We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:58, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022
Hello Hawkeye7,
- Backlog status
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
- Backlog drive
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.
- TIP – New school articles
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
- Misc
There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
>NPP backlog: 13036 as of 23:00, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
- To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

For your review of "Mountain Commando at War." Balancing resources allocated to Special Forces as opposed to regular troops is a tricky question, but yes at the very least, SF can suck off the best of the recce platoons etc before they've had a chance to contribute properly in line battalions.
