To report an error in current or upcoming Main Page content, please add it to the appropriate section below.
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of all or part of the text in question will help.
- Please offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones: The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 02:23 on 17 August 2022), not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not give you a faster response; it is unnecessary as this page is not protected and will in fact cause problems if used here, as this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- Done? Once an error has been fixed, rotated off the Main Page or acknowledged not to be an error, the report will be removed from this page; please check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken, as no archives are kept.
- No chit-chat: Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the relevant article or project talk page.
- Please respect other editors. A real person wrote the blurb or hook for which you are suggesting a fix, or a real person noticed what they honestly believe is an issue with the blurb or hook that you wrote. Everyone is interested in creating the best Main Page possible; with the compressed time frame, there is sometimes more stress and more opportunities to step on toes. Please be civil to fellow users.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, consider first attempting to fix the problem there before reporting it here if necessary. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. In addition, upcoming content is typically only protected from editing 24 hours before its scheduled appearance; in most cases, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.

- The 2022 Oder environmental disaster item needs rephrasing. It seems that fish are dying in Frankfurt on the Ober, which means that the "...Polish part of the river..." no longer needs to be specified, and aside from the fish and beaver, birds are also dying. Earlier the plural "beavers" was changed to "beaver" (at my request), and has since been changed back, along with removal of the term "die-off" as "bizarre". In addition, the word involving is rather weak. I suggest "A mass fish kill occurs in the river Oder, causing a health and environmental crisis." Abductive (reasoning) 18:56, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- I concur that the blurb should change. I'm happy to drop the beavers, given that it doesn't sit right with you, and concentrate on the fish. What I suggest is that the hook should give more geographic context as not everyone would know where the Oder is. With regards to the various crises, I suggest that the fish dying on mass IS the environmental crisis (rather than causing it), and that the health crisis appears to be secondary to the political crisis. It might thus be better to stick to the facts in front of us:
A mass fish kill occurs in the river Oder in Poland and Germany.
Any dissenting views or suggestions for alternative wording? Schwede66 22:11, 16 August 2022 (UTC)- Might I suggest "A mass fish kill due to contaminated water occurs..." as the cause is narrowed to be something inappropriately added upstream and not from, say, global warming. This also stresses the potential harm to both humans and the ecosystem without spelling it out. Masem (t) 23:34, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- I've updated the blurb as per my suggestion. That's not to say that it couldn't be further modified. I'm not keen on "due to contaminated waters" as I can see some scientists arguing that the contamination by itself wouldn't have had much effect if it wasn't also for low water levels / high water temperatures / low oxygen levels, all of which are linked to global warming. Hence I suggest we don't go there with the blurb. Schwede66 02:23, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
