It is difficult to think of anything more notable than the senior Archdeacon of the entire Church of England and Anglican Communion (recently dismissed from his post of Director of Unity, Faith and Order) being found by a Lady Justice of Appeal and one of the most senior Judges in that Court to have embezzled funds from a Church charity. 92.31.138.0 (talk) 14:12, 6 September 2022 (UTC) |

Talk:James Gordon (British Army officer, died 1783)
Wishing to resolve the issue of whether or not the James Gordon article should have a link included to a photograph of the memorial created in his mother's honour, commissioned by his brother, Andrew Gordon. I would suggest: "In 1792, Gordon's younger brother, Andrew, erected a memorial to their mother, which reads: "Mrs Elizabeth Glen widow of James Gordon, Esqr of Ellon, died 7th March MDCCXCII, aged 80 years. To the memory of a beloved parent this monument of filial piety is erected by Lieut Genl Andrew Gordon".[1]

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geography
Hi. I only come across this issue when I saw a discussion on the Talk page of Southend-on-Sea regarding the County Borough of Southend-on-Sea page. I raised this as an AFD, which basically has had little input other from myself and User talk:Crouch, Swale, and then as a discussion on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geography, placing notices of the discussion on both the notability page for geography and the WikiProject:Councils talk page. So far there has only been two people involved - guess who!
As Wikipedia is a community and is governed by concensus, I have raised this AFD to bring clarity, as there seems to be no actual rules just opinion. The first issue is the Metropolitan and Non metropolitan districts of England: What is their correct name? As evidenced from different sources the names are different: Take City of Chelmsford, the Ordnance survey district says City of Chelmsford, the Office for National Statistics [1] says Chelmsford, GOV.uk (which lists them as Councils although the download page states it is metropolitan and non metropolitan districts) [2] as Chelmsford City Council, the Council tax: stock of properties, 2018 on gov.uk "Table CTSOP1.0: Number of properties by Council Tax band and region, county and local authority district" which comes from the Valuation Office Agency [3] says Chelmsford, or the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government Open data portal [4] says Chelmsford. When you look at Southend-on-Sea, the name fluctuates between Southend-on-Sea and Southend-on-Sea Unitary Authority! As the UK government seem to have an issue to what the naming conventions should be should we: 1. Go with current naming convention, based on Ordance Survey. 2. Go with the Ministry Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government Open data portal. Second Issue. Do we need to have separate pages for the local authority district and the local authority council? Or could these be combined ? 1. Keep separate pages for both district and council. 2. Merge pages together and name under a. The district or b. The council. Davidstewartharvey (talk) 07:11, 23 August 2022 (UTC) |

Recently there was controversy over what map or other image, if any, should be placed in the article's lead, eventually an RfC was held, with the conclusion that there was consensus against the proposed maps due to concerns over original research, but given that the only users who took part in it were ones who were already involved in the dispute, I thought it was appropriate to at least have further discussion on this issue.

I have attempted to find any consensus or discussion of the guidance listed at the top of the category, which says "Book articles should appear in subcategories for the publishers of their first or simultaneous editions including paperback originals, their major revised editions, and their translations — not for the publishers of reprints or reissues that differ by minor revisions or by nationality. Talk:2023 Nigerian general election
This article's original name was "2023 Nigerian general election" but it was changed to "2023 Nigerian elections" due to the addition of elections not on a single election day. After several discussions on various talk pages that went nowhere, requesting comment seemed pertinent. The dispute is between one side (me) who supports a move as the current title indicates that there is one central election on one day; however, there are dozens of different elections in Nigeria throughout 2023 (from February to at least November) making this page comparable to the 2020 United States elections page. There has been a disagreement over the inclusion of another candidate (Rabiu Kwankwaso) as a major candidate. One user (me) argues that Kwankwaso does not regularly receive the level of coverage that that three major candidates get and thus it would be giving undue weight to Kwankwaso to include him as a major candidate. The other user (Rotidiap) argues the opposite and thus it would actually give due weight to Kwankwaso to include him as a major candidate. Watercheetah99 (talk) 21:02, 23 August 2022 (UTC) |

WP:CAT#T states "Templates are not articles, and thus do not belong in content categories." While templates are certainly not articles, they often contain content, in some cases content that appears in no other place on Wikipedia, e.g. Template:1933 Southeastern Conference football standings. From a practical standpoint, it may useful to navigate directly from a content category like Category:Southeastern Conference football to a category like Category:Southeastern Conference football templates and its subcats like Category:Southeastern Conference football standings templates, which contain templates related the subject of Southeastern Conference football. After all, the point of categories is to organize things by batching related things together and helping users find them, right?
In late 2020, we had a discussion on this talk page concerning this issue; see Wikipedia talk:Categorization/Archive 18#procedure makes the category tree worse, both coming and going. Participants included Tahc, Dr Greg, Michael Bednarek, andrybak, Oculi, Fayenatic london, DexDor, and me. We had substantial support there for changing the existing policy. Should WP:BLOCKEVIDENCE be updated to explicitly allow administrators to consider off-wiki evidence when making blocks for on-wiki misconduct, as long as that evidence will be made available to all uninvolved administrators and recorded with the Arbitration Committee? 21:52, 6 September 2022 (UTC) |

I’d like to recommend that the basketball guideline add a numbered statement (in the first position) under “Significant coverage is likely to exist for basketball figures if they:”
Work was done several months back source to GNG players who appeared in exactly one game (discussion here, list here). Overwhelmingly it appears NBA players get significant coverage either through their NBA careers or college or other leagues. The work was done and in my opinion should result in an update to the guideline. Rikster2 (talk) 12:18, 20 August 2022 (UTC) |

User names
This page is for bringing attention to usernames which may be in violation of Wikipedia's username policy. Before listing a username here, consider if it should be more appropriately reported elsewhere, or if it needs to be reported at all:
- Report blatantly inappropriate usernames, such as usernames that are obscene or inflammatory, to Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention.
- For other cases involving vandalism, personal attacks or other urgent issues, try Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents; blatant vandalism can also be reported at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, which is sometimes a better option.
Do NOT post here if:
- the user in question has made no recent edits.
- you wish to have the block of a user reviewed. Instead, discuss the block with the blocking administrator (see also Wikipedia:Blocking policy#Unblocking).
Before adding a name here you MUST ensure that the user in question:
- has been warned about their username (with e.g. {{subst:uw-username}}) and has been allowed time to address the concern on their user talk page.
- has disagreed with the concern, refused to change their username and/or continued to edit without replying to the warning.
- is not already blocked.
If, after having followed all the steps above, you still believe the username violates Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here with an explanation of which part of the username policy you think has been violated. After posting, please alert the user of the discussion (with e.g. {{subst:UsernameDiscussion}}). You may also invite others who have expressed concern about the username to comment on the discussion by use of this template.
Add new requests below, using the syntax {{subst:rfcn1|username|2=reason ~~~~}}.

Please remember that this is not a vote, rather, it is a place where editors can come when they are unsure what to do with a username, and to get outside opinions (hence it's named "requests for comment"). There are no set time limits to the period of discussion.

Ngo has claimed to be an independent journalist. It is increasingly clear he is coordinating his movements and his message with right-wing groups. On Aug. 26, The Portland Mercury published an allegation by a Vancouver infiltrator of the right-wing group Patriot Prayer. 'There's an understanding,' the man told the Mercury, 'that Patriot Prayer protects him and he protects them.' Ngo could not be reached for comment.

Ngo tags along with Patriot Prayer during demonstrations, hoping to catch footage of an altercation. Ben says Ngo doesn't film Patriot Prayer protesters discussing strategies or motives. He only turns his camera on when members of antifa enter the scene. 'There's an understanding,' he says, 'that Patriot Prayer protects him and he protects them.'

Ngo has long maintained he is an independent reporter who covers the far-left despite his ties to the far-right. He’s also had a loose relationship with the truth while reporting on antifa.

Among the witnesses called to testify were legislators from several states and Andy Ngo, a Portland-based journalist who describes himself as independent and objective but who has been accused of working with far-right groups in the past. Ngo, who last year made headlines when an anti-fascist punched him, has been criticised for sharing misleading and inaccurate information about anti-fascist demonstrators in his hometown.
