Deleted page Rodolfo Correa Vargas / Please help.
Hi Lectonar, can you please help me build this page back, and do it by Wikipedia standards and requirements, please. This is the info I got: 12:46, 29 September 2020 Lectonar talk contribs deleted page Rodolfo Correa Vargas (A2: Article in a foreign language that exists on another project: ES-Wikipedia, thrice deleted there for not meeting GNG) (thank)
As you explained, it was deleted three times. I would like to know how to recreate this page so that it is approved. Dr Vargas is a well known and appreciated personality in Colombia.
Thank you much!
- As you said in your first email: "WE" would like to have the article back. Who is we? So let me point you first to our guideline about conflict of interest; please act accordingly if necessary. That being out of the way, there is still a draft to be found at Draft:Rodolfo Correa Vargas on which you could work; this will provide guidance for that endeavour. Regards. Small translation request
Hi Lectonar. I understand you are a native speaker of German. I will be grateful if you will offer an English translation of the byline of this Deutsche Welle article, and as much as the remainder of the article as you have the inclination for (paragraphs 3, 4, 5 are the most relevant for WP purposes). It's for use in the article Julian Assange.
Google translate gives "A key witness for the indictment against the imprisoned Wikileaks founder revokes his testimony and MPs from almost all parties appeal to US President Joe Biden - but also to Chancellor Angela Merkel."
Thanks for your help. Cambial foliage❧ 13:05, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Cambial Yellowing: Hi....google translate is getting better, but I would translate it as follows: "A key witness for the prosecution against the imprisoned Wikileaks founder recants his testimony, and MPs from almost all parties appeal to US President Joe Biden - but also to German Chancellor Angela Merkel.".....tbh, I don't find the German byline to be terribly well written as such (it reads like it's been re-translated from English to German). I am not sure I can get around to translate the rest in the next days, though. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar (talk) 13:38, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Resource help for article (German to English)
Hello, I see you you translate from German to English. I am in the process of creating an English article of a Dutch company, based in Enschede, near the German border. I have found a potentially useful resource, but the article is in German, so I am unable to read it, and since it's a pdf, I can't use online translators either. Are you able to translate this German article from page 79 to 82? It's for the the article Hollandia (matzah)(Hollandia (matzes)), and this article appears to have useful information about the Woudstra family, who opened the matzo factory in 1933, after escaping the Nazis in Germany. A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. - @RomanceLove88: There is no need for that at the moment, as there are still about 11 months of protection left. How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Query about page protection
Hello, Lectonar,
I ran into something puzzling, it looks like here, you protected Sabareesan V so that only extended confirmed editors could create this page but a very new editor was able to move an unapproved draft on to this main space title. I've seen this happen before when page titles are protected, that editors who should not be able to create these pages are able to move pages on to these titles in main space. It seems like a way around page protection.
Am I missing something or should this problem be brought up elsewhere? Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 21:49, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I looked at it, and it seems the protection I applied before the deletion of the article died with said deletion. When I looked at the redlinked article-page now, it was only possible to create-protect it. So it seems to depend on the order in which you do things like deletion and /or protection. I will look at it a little more, but my guess is it might be intended. We just have to be careful for now. Thank you for pointing that out, @Liz:. Lectonar (talk) 22:33, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Features for new users coming soon (and mentors, like you, wanted!)
Hello. As you're currently listed as a host at the Teahouse, I wanted to make sure you're aware of the imminent rollout of new Growth Team Features which every new account will be getting by default. Each users will soon see a new 'Homepage' tab next to their User page. It contains two main elements which might impact on your involvement - and you'd be welcome to get involved and help out directly with one of them.
- Firstly, they will be offered a range of 'suggested edits', and encouraged to make simple improvements to pages that interest them. (Being aware of this feature would be helpful for all Teahouse hosts if you're likely to offer advice on tasks for them to start out doing.)
- There's also a 'Your impact' box to show them how many people have seen the pages they've just edited.
- Finally, each new user is randomly assigned a 'mentor' from a list of friendly, experienced editors, like yourself. If they get stuck, they can ask a question directly to them via a Your mentor box, and hopefully get a swift, friendly answer from that mentor. Currently, this feature is given to 2% of new users, but it's set to increase to around 10% in the very near future.
To spread the load on our current list of around 65 mentors, I'm reaching out to ask if you'd like to help out and sign up as one? The workload is relatively small; User Panini! reports receiving four questions a month, on average, all of which were simple ones of the type we already get at the Teahouse and elsewhere, and I've had just the one in the last 3 weeks. To view a list of every question asked of all mentors over the last 14 days, click here.
If becoming a mentor and being available to help new users on their first few days here interests you - just as you already do at the Teahouse - then please consider signing up at Growth Team features/Mentor list. Existing users can already 'opt-in' to seeing the Newcomer Homepage features via their Preferences.

Question from Daniellealgo (19:43, 1 March 2022)
Hello! I am trying to get the company I work for on Wikipedia. Do you know how I can accomplish this? --Daniellealgo (talk) 19:43, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, @Daniellealgo:. Ir will be difficult. As you work for the company, you have a conflict of interest and per the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use, you need to disclose it. Also see WP:NCORP; the requirements for companies and corporations to have an article on Wikipedia are stricter then the usual requirements. You would also need to find reliable sources which are independent from the company you work for, for that take a look at WP:Finding sources. To read the linked articles/pages, click on the words in blue. Lectonar (talk) 08:38, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Question from Synkronizedfilms (15:08, 3 March 2022)
Hello, I am Daniela and I am an executive at Synkronized, a 22 years old film and series studio based in the US. We have a lot of mentions from our previous films and history on wiki, and we feel it is time to create a page about this company. Hope you can help in any ways and glad to connect with you and this community. --Synkronizedfilms (talk) 15:08, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Synkronizedfilms: The first problem is your username: Please read our username policy, and act accordingly. Then: I suppose you are being paid by your company to make the page? If so, you are required to disclose it, and then follow the instructions at our guide for managing conflicts of interest and WP:PAID. When these hurdles are overcome, please keep the following in mind: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, which means that it is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. More info can be found here. Regards. Lectonar (talk) 15:25, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
- I shall answer to your e-mail here, as I like to keep things as open as possible. Wikipedia is, with very little exceptions, run by volunteers. So there is no contributor I would know where you could make an order for an article to be written; the nearest we got is this, but if (supposing the studio is notable or when an article can or will be written I can not say. Regards. Lectonar (talk) 08:11, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
Ban them all, is that your plan?
So I see you have taken the knee jerk reaction to indefinitely stop all IP editing P&O Ferries because of a bit of hoo har after the decision by its owner, a Dubai equity company, to sack 800 staff (many of which have been with the ferry company longer than you have edited this site). Wow considering the only people who ever make any meaningful contributions on this site are IPs (leaving the rest of you to have your edit wars and nonsense arguments) banning IPs forever from editing that page shows a great deal of short-sightedness and ham-fistedness. In six months this issue would have all blown over but since don't seem to be able to conceive that, you unimaginatively ban IPs forever is incredibly lazy and pathetic.146.200.202.126 (talk) 20:35, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- Well, I just did an honest mistake...I wanted to protectect for 3 days (as has been mentioned in the response to the request for protection), but it came out as infinite. This has been remedied now, just 3 more days and the article is free to edit again. There is no need to rant off, a polite query would have had the same effect. Regards. Question from MichelleBoehm (06:09, 7 April 2022)
Hi there! Hoping you can help me with my question. I am a new user and edited about 30 articled before having a go at writing one myself! I have put up the Handmade Canberra Market page and it's been flagged with "NPOV", which I totally understand given the comments left in the talk (use of the words 'successfully' and 'encouraged'). My question now is, how do I go about getting that NPOV removed? I have reviewed it and don't believe there are any further non-neutral words, but I am not sure how I get *permission* to do so, because it kind of feels like it wouldn't be right to remove it myself. Keen to find out how to do it before looking if there are any other articles I could contribute. Thanks so much. Michelle --MichelleBoehm (talk) 06:09, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @MichelleBoehm:, nice to have you as an editor here on Wikipedia, and brave of you to try your hand at writing articles. Actually you need no permission to take out anything; every page is essentially editable by everyone. But I agree with the user who put up the NPOV template, even going so far as calling the tone of the article "marketing speechy" . I have endeavoured to cut the article down to what I think makes it neutral. The parts I took out read indeed like they were advertising the market and other things in relation to the market :). I also have taken out the Award section, as we should ideally only include awards which have Wikipedia articles themselves. Please also read our policy regarding conflict of interest, and act accordingly if necessary. Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources.. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar (talk) 14:02, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Thank you so much. I guess I didn't realise that the article could be so short! I tried fleshing it out a bit (based on how long the articles I was editing were) and I wonder if maybe I did myself a disservice by setting a personal goal of editing 30 pages before writing one, because most of the articles I edited had been flagged for sounding like an advertisement. So maybe I will go and spend some time reading articles that have no problems so I can hear more of what a neutral article sounds like, before I have a go at writing another. Thanks so much! For starters, there should never be the need to move a page on enwiki to somehow match Wikidata. Hi,
I wanted to request for another protection for the article of The Voice (franchise) to avoid vandalism and unwanted edits to the page, hopefully it will be total locked where confirmed users were able to edit the page.
Cheers!
Thanks, Ayeespino (talk) 12:12, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- The usual place to request something like that would be here. That said, after having looked at the article, there is not enough recent disruption to warrant another page-protection. Please read our protection policy if you haven't done so already. In short: the aim of protection is to prevent and stop recent vandalism/disruption, but not to permanently restrict the editing of articles (there are exceptions of course; some rare pages will never go beneath an ecp-protection). Wikipedia still is the encyclopedia that every one can and should edit, even non-confirmed editors/IPs. So protection is the exception, not the rule. Regards. Question from 500problems
It's constructive to point out the obvious. If White Pride is a problem, then Black Power is. It's discrimination, and it will always stay discrimination. Just because I point that out doesn't mean I'm not being constructive. I am constructive because I am pointing out the obvious... Or are you picking a side and deciding what gets shown on Wikipedia and what doesn't get shown? NPOV is completely thrown under the rug when it concerns social issues and political jargon.
My question is, why do you have authority over what's constructive? Why did you revert the discrimination article in the Black Power article? 500problems (talk) 20:18, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

You denied a request (here [1] for semi-protection on the My Son Hunter page and you advised me to "Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue."
Well, I wish it were only 1 wiki account, but it's not. Just in the last 24 hours, the below listed Wiki users (IPs) have caused a high amount of disruptive editing & several wiki editors have been having to revert their edits & giving them warnings on their talk pages. But, the disruptive editing doesn't seem to be letting up. Since so many IPs (or people) are involved, what do you advise I do to help protect that page from continual disruption?

Please advise me on if there's anything I can do to mitigate any disruption. Thanks BetsyRMadison (talk) 20:56, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- When I looked at it, there was just one perpetetrator which stuck out, hence the decline with pointing to AIV. The article has been protected in the meantime. Lectonar (talk) 07:05, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
AfC & Edit Protection
Hi @Lectonar: thank you for getting to my request! I have a question since I'm still learning the ropes of AfC. Since edit protection should only be lifted after I accept an AfC submission, what's the best way for me to accept an AfC submission that is currently edit protected? I don't want to accept drafts and move them to mainspace under a different page title, since that just creates an unnecessary redirect. BuySomeApples (talk) 20:01, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Afaics, the draft isn't edit protected at all, so the submisson can be accepted when deemed ready for mainspace. Once that is done, ping me or make a new request for unprotection. Lectonar (talk) 07:13, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Board of Trustees election
Thank you for supporting the NPP initiative to improve WMF support of the Page Curation tools. Another way you can help is by voting in the Board of Trustees election. The next Board composition might be giving attention to software development. The election closes on 6 September at 23:59 UTC. View candidate statement videos and Vote Here. Thanks for your page protection at 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. There is currently an editor User:Jirka who is reverting against multiple editors in order to force his version on an edit into the article. He appears to be dedicating himself to making serial reverts to force his edit into the article even though Talk page discussion is still unresolved. He has been contacted on his Talk page by multiple editors and seems not to stop reverting. Could you look at this when you have a chance. ErnestKrause (talk) 14:43, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
